WE DID IT! https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/minimize-debug-mode-option.1414998/#post-26860544

A little button somewhere on the screen for those using debug mode. Pressing it would make everything debug mode related (except said little button) go away. No more tooltip strings. No more purple options. No more menu graphics. no more console, even if you press the 'open console' button on your keyboard. It would all minimize into that little button on your screen.

Then, when you press it again, it all pops back out ready for use!

Thus preventing the need to turn off the game every time you want to open or close the console.
(I've yet to open the console in CK3, but in every other paradox game, unless I'm playing with a goal in mind, I tend to open it about once every 2-3 minutes; which would be a LOT of game restarts.)

I support this suggestion wholehearditely. Although for the sake of simplicity, I'd simply change the "-debug_mode" launch paramer a bit.
First, add a "debug_mode" console command. This console command activates all the purple floaty ID's and stuff, and deactivates it when typing it again.

All the "-debug_mode" launch parameter does is give access to the console or not. Nothing more, no permanent cheat mode, no immersion breaking purple stuff.

hm, this could also work. I do like the idea of a cute little button on screen to press, but your suggestion is probably far easier to implement, and, would be a more traditional/familiar way to go about achieving the same result!

I should add that none of this would make "cheat mode" go away, it just hides what the user sees. It would still be full on marked as "cheat mode" (as, it seems, thats what you guys are going for here)

I finally got summore time to play today, and opened up debug mode, to find out, they actually did this! :D

It's 5 (or 6) buttons instead of 1, but its perfect!! I love it! Thanks to the devs for responding so fast!

What the heck are you talking about? Everything is still the same. Nothing changed. You open the game with the -debug_mode parameter. Everything is filled with purple debug text. if you open the console and deactivate debug_mode you can't access the console anymore.

Are you using a mod by any chance?
