Ancient Assyrian Religion
The Ancient Assyrians followed a more militant branch of Mesopotamian polytheism who worshipped the god Ashur as their prime deity. It was founded around 2500 BCE persisted up until at least the late 4th Century CE. I made this mod to allow a ruler the ability to re-discover this religion and convert to it. At the moment it only works with CK2plus, but I will get around to making a stand alone version. It's really just for me but I figured if other people wanted it they could take the files and add it to their own mods.

Name: There is not any real name I can discern for the religion so I called it "Ashurism". If anyone knows of a better name I can change the localization files pretty easy and honestly I want something that sounds better. I changed the name of the reformed version to "Ama-gi" which is a Sumerian word meaning "freedom" and "manumission".

Heretics: I did not include any heretics in the mod because the only heretic religion that makes sense would be the worship of Marduk, the main Babylonian god. Marduk and Ashur took on the same roles and most of the other gods they shared in common. Another option would be to make the religion automatically reformed and then you could just have two branches, Ashurism and Mardukism, and I played around with that idea. So if you like it then go for it and just use whatever you can from these files.

Miscellaneous:
I added a bunch of old Assyrian names to the Assyrian culture like Ashur'banipal or Shamshi'Adad for guys and Sammu'ramat or Tashmetu'sharrat for gals.
I changed the names of kings, dukes, etc. to the old Akkadian titles if they follow this religion.
There are several paths to end up converting, and you have the option of converting your entire realm at the same time.
I have a ziggurat wonder you can build but I have not tested it yet so it might not work.

Future:
I am still working on this and I plan on adding specific decisions (the Assyrians really liked to flay people a lot) and maybe a holy order or something. I want to create my own options for coats of arms but I don't have any idea how to do that yet so it might not happen. Also to add are honorary titles (every court needs an exorcist right?) and festivals. And I want to add a decision to choose a personal deity.

Modders:
I have not modded for many years so I opened up a bunch of other mods to see how other people did stuff. If I copied some of your code and did not give you credit then I am very sorry.

Download:
Ashurism 1.5

Just download the zip into your mod directory and then extract just the descriptor.mod file to that directory. Rename it to AASSR.mod and as long as you have CK2Plus installed and running it will work fine.

Update:

I added some decisions like being able to choose a patron god and made it much more likely that a follower will choose to execute people via flaying or impalement. For some reason the Ziggurat graphics are not showing up and the Divination does not have the event chain working yet, but I fixed some other localisation stuff.
