So I'm pretty inexperienced with modding in general - I've basically done nothing other than editing the defines in EU4 to change the end date and culture core limits. How hard would it be to mod my own game files to remove certain race portraits in Stellaris? For example, I'm not a fan of the parrots in space helmets, and would rather not have them in my games. Is it just a matter of finding the corresponding portrait file and deleting it, or are there other files I'd need to change too?

Delete them from the game folder, and find what file references them. Done :p
