Lately I've been searching for a modern day mod for DH 1.04.
However, I was disappointed to find the last Modern Day Scenario only compatible with 1.03, so I tried it on 1.03 and found it lacking in the "modern day" aspect, 'cause It's a bit outdated now.
Then I found the Putin mod, but I prefer the regular map to the E3 map, so I thought of making an updated version of the Modern Day mod.
There is one little caveat, though -- I have no idea how to mod DH.
I have ideas for scenarios and events but I need help actually... doing... things and stuff.
If someone could help me in any way, I'd much appreciate it. :)

I can help, sure, but I'd also really, really, really, really, really recommend you to get the gist of at least the basics of modding - there are manuals, read them. Not trying to discourage you or anything, but it's really hard to take a guy who admits he doesn't quite know what he's up to seriously.

I would be glad to help you. Maybe do it all here in the thread itself, so others can see how to mod dh as well?
 
And I know it's hard to take me seriously, but having played this game for a while and having enjoyed the community behind it, I want to contribute something as well.
So please know that I'll do my best to make this work out!

Oh be sure I am taking you very seriously. If you need help I will help you as best I can. I don't mod anymore, but am glad to help out. So begin...
 
I hope this mod will be continued. I would have a lot of event ideas like African border clashes and claims, South American economic events etc.

Start with taking a look at the modding documentation that comes with the game (in Documentation), it'll help you kickstart everything.

I don't have any screenshots yet, no. :(

And the reason why I don't really want the E3 map is because:
1 - I'm used to the regular map
2 - I believe it works in some regions better than others
3 - It would be harder for me to mod, especially as a first-time project

I would prefer making a first version of the mod with a regular DH map, and a second one later with an E3 map

I see why you wouldn't want to use the E3 map, but for the current state of affairs I believe the E3 map is much better suited. Having more provinces is better suited for things like ISIS and the Russian rebels in Ukraine, and although I know zero code maybe I could help "sort out" the provinces to each country.

could you send me the latest patch for your putin mod please. Ive done a lot of work on it just for myself. Adding lots of ministers for the smaller countries. I would like to see whats been added since the version ive got

The mod is still there and still available. The thread is just locked. It is on page 4 (at the moment) of this same part of the forum.

still think putin is the best mod out there

off topic question - ive added bahrain as its own country in the putin mod and in real life there is the king fahd causeway that links bahrain to saudi arabia. Im wondering what file I have to mod to make it so that you can get land units to be able to cross to and from the island

Oh em, check out the adjacents.csv file in the map folder. Just look at the first few line and you will be able to make sense of it. Remember to look at it in notepad++, as looking at it in excel might mess up the file?

Yeah, Bahrain has a huge US base and this was deemed more important than having some pissy little sheik's house.... :)

Might be in the news soon? as I see the Iranians are expecting war any day now... in RL. ... will it ever end...? God Bless George Bush!!!
