Someone just posted on the German board, that in 1.05b only the HUMAN player is in fact affected by the new assault-morale constrictions. Can anybody confirm this?
Haven't noticed this yet - though it is beginning to seem to me that the AI in the new patch has forgotten one of the lessons of old - do NOT assault when strong enemy armies are adjacent. I've now seen it doing so repeatedly.
I can. I was assaulting a fortress, and had to wait some time to attack again (get morale up again) and then my Polish ally join with 5k troops, and bam! He attacks again and again, even though our morale is way down!
Yep - I've seen this as well now. The AI definitely cheats - to its great loss often.
Also, the AI now no longer checks to see whether there are neighbouring armies before assaulting, so it is now easy to use the 'wait until assaulting and them move in' tactics again that I have described previously (and which I believe was fixed in an earlier patch).
Well, there was certainly in one of the patches (I think 1.03 but maybe 1.04) where it had learnt not to storm a province if there was a large army in a neighbouring province. This could of course be exploited a bit - but not quite as easily as one can exploit the AI when it automatically storms fortresses regardless of its environment.
Positioning and defending - it seems ok at positioning its troops before a war breaks out. Once the war is on, it is still pretty incompetent at this.
It also seems to have some 'churn' that reduces its forces. I'm playing as Sweden, and the Danish army keeps moving around, even though it is not at war.
Which reminds me - how does vassalization end? Do you end it (as Sweden) by declaring war on Denmark? There is an End date in the .inc file - is that the only way to end it if you are the vassalized nation; wait for it to expire?
