Yep. That'll do it. Must have static non-shared IP to host. I don't know of any way to circumvent that one.

Sorry. I should have been more clear... When I said "Yep. That'll do it" I meant that roadrunner uses fixed a system of allocated IP with dynamic subnet routing. AFAIK, it will never work for hosting (it might for a very short while if there's low traffic, but most of the time it will just freeze on you).

Well, I looked into static ip's. Roadrunner says that it is the solution if I am having trouble using my computer as any type of servers. Unfortunately, they are way too expensive for me.:( I am currently revieiwing the possibility that my IP address is changing while I am playing and that is crashing it.

I am pretty sure that this is part (if not all) of the problem you're having but you may find it hard to test if roadrunner is set up the way that I think they are for their standard user accounts - which seems to be confirmed by what you're saying.

What I believe is happening is that you are effectively IP-sharing when you're on line. Roadrunner has some sort up routing handler that allows it to run several users under the same IP and the packets are dynamically allocated to the "correct" user as they come inbound. Think of it a little bit like a network server where you each have a subnet mask assignment - except that this is dynamic and hidden. With the continual (and somewhat unusual) stream that EU2 MP uses, this is probably resulting in dropped packets or some sort of weird failure related to this. That they also offer a static fixed IP service for their users (where you have a unique IP that doesn't change but will cost you a lot more because it's dedicated) seems to support this guess.

IMO you're unlikely to be able to resolve your problem without changing to a different ISP who doesn't use this type of system...or paying a much steeper price for a fixed static IP.

I doubt it, unfortunately, since it really isn't strictly a subnet but actually a dynamic packet routing system that tags packets to the subnet and reponses maps it to . This is on a per request basis and will be invisible to your computer, so I don't think you can address it directly in the EU2 direct internet link since it's tagged dynamically in the packet headers at the ISP level.

EDIT: Note that I am not an expert on this on the ISP end of things, so it might be possible but I haven't the faintest idea how one might go about doing it.

"The signal from the main roadrunner office to your computer is weak. Information is reaching your modem then dropping. There is most likely some line damage involved."

Thanks for all of your help MrT. Clearly this is beyond what patching, etc. can do.

Rats. Time for a new ISP perhaps?
