I would like to try and start a little MP strategy discussion since its my impression that a strategy that works fine in SP might very well work very bad in MP since u are up against a human who unlike the AI will try to deduce your weaknesses and use these against u! ....also one major difference is the obvious one that if u are only playing 2 players then its almost as good to hurt your opponents interests as it is to further your own. this is ofcause less obvious the more players u are, but atleast in a 2 player game this has the consequence that u could se a quest to become the most narrowminded & decentralized power....since warexhaustion can be a very powerful weapon against a player who has expanded outside his core territory...a difference in revoltrisk from warexhaustion from +12 (fully decentralized & narrowminded, in non core) to +20 (settings of 5 & 5)....decade after decade can be a very powerful weapon! *g*

any other obvious MP strategies? thoughts?

I have one although I did it by accident since we where allied at the time. I was playing as Spain and Alex was England we started in 1492. When I got my first explorer I went over and discovered the american coast line. I then went on to attack the lenape and other tribes revealing most of the area to me. I then colonized everything which should have been colonized by england succesfully keeping them out of the new world. I don't know if you consider this a strategy but it works great if you want to hamper england and slow her down. Of course as I said earlier I was allied with ALEX at the time and was not thinking what a horror this was to him when he found all of america owned by spaniards:D As ALEX pointed out afterwords this would be agreat way to hamper an enemy england.
