Multiplayer Error

A friend bought me CK2 today, and wanted to play the GoT mod with me, I proceeded to install the game, the mod and then downgraded the game to 2.3.6, and when I tried to join their lobby the game wouldn't have any of it. It said that the other didn't have the same version.

So we're not sure what's happening. If it's any help my game says 2.3.6 (YIVR) in the corner and theirs says IKQP

I'd really appreciate if anyone would come back to me on this.

Only mod I'm using is the GoT mod, it seems to be a problem with the game rather than us.

I am not, I literally just installed the mod and the game. Selected no extra options to my knowledge

I believe we've resolved the issue. For anyone else who wondered we had to re-install the entire game. Or use steam to verify it
