Too Many Bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The main reason that I bought this game was for its multi-player mode (being a fan of stategic games, I know only too well the artificial intelligences limitations).
On the game packaging purchased in France, it states that this game is multi-player : it says "In multi-player mode, Europa Universalis II enables players to confront each other on Internet. Several scenarios have been specially conceived for multi-player mode".

Problems : Myself and other players have tried to start multi-player games and there :
NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS : desynchronisation problems between players (the players find themselves in different periods of time several months ahead or behind, Impossible to continue the game from a backup, crashes whilst using the chat ........ Etc ....

Can somebody explain to me : have I been conned? Are we involontary beta testers?
How can you explain this sales technique that consists of selling an unfinished game? I remind you that this game was launched at the end of 2001 and is still full of bugs and in multi-player mode, unplayable.

I would like some explainations from Paradox ... and especially a patch to correct these problems (I play with version 1.04!)

Otherwise, you can count on me to express my personal opinion about this game on sales sites... I really feel as if I have been had!!!!

For information, we tried to play on Internet, the fastest computer was the host. All of us use fast connections (DSL, cable or numeris).

Indeed those problems are largely met by multiplayers users
We just hope they will be fixed in patch 1.05

We had a lot of problems in EU1 and we hoped that EU2 would be more reliable... obviously it is not...

A basic answer would be to correct those points as soon as possible, in order to make EU2 a real"multiplayer game"

Bugs reported are:
-CTD while using chat
-special lag when playing Spain
-unsynchronisation after loading a saved game
-problems after loadind saved file by the main menu

Thanks for your attention
Vlad

For sure EU2 cannot support up to four players in multiplayers game.

All bugs suffered by multiplayers are too important to invest in a Grand Campain.

I would like to have testimony of players who had reach to play EU2 in multiplayers (up to four).
I'm very interesting of having a discussion with those E.T.s

The multiplayers community is not developped enought to scream all the pain we have suffering all the problems we meet but because of the bugs very few players will become multiplayers...vicious circle.

I would just had this is a shame cause on the box of the game you can read MP game possible. And it's not the case. For the people telling, I should help instead of complaining, I would answer I'm not a beta-tester and I bought the game. If Paradox send it for free to me, I would participate in debugging. But I bought it and thus I should have a reliable product and not have to loose my time on a bug forum to know how to load my saved game or to avoid crashes and play correctly. The work has not been done correctly and players should have the right to come and say to Paradox, I want you to give my money back as the game I bought does not work correctly. I won't do it because I love this game, but please I ask Paradox to fix ALL the MP problem for the next patch to be the last one. You have to put enough people on the job to test, find all the bugs for all requirements, and fix them. You should first give the customers a perfect product before to start developping other ones (CK or HOI or Legion). This is a question of respect.

I've copied it here from the bug forum.

Some of the things I can't answer (Valkyrie.net) so I'll leave it up to you.

I have played in a 4 way MP game without too much problem (dial up screen appearing behind EU2) but that is on a LAN not over the internet. We all had different OS, XP,ME,2000 and 98SE. Could these problems only exist in internet connection or have I just been lucky, there certainly seems to be a lot of MP problems reported.

Strange

Yes it does have problems, mainly bugs, but I've encountered relatively few of these. It does work and there are lots of players and its very good fun it is playable at a decent speed that keeps you occupied without crashing.

Admittedly I've never seen your desynchronisation problems, are you any using 56K? What speed are you playing at?

There are always loads of people on vnet- they just play via IP- I can get a game going any evening if I wanted it. Most of my problems come from players without a patch or poor connections.

As for not being able handle more than 3, I disagree from experience. I have no problems with 5-7 if everyone has a decent connection although. The key is having a decent host and keeping 56K players to a minimum in any big game- ie one is enough.

I've got a 512k machine and have played 70 years in 5 days with 4-6 people at any one time.Chat can be bypassed with ICQ.

I'm not saying that there isnt alot work to go and pleased that you are trying to raise the existing problems but you are more than welcome to play with me if you have a decent connection as I seem to have alot of success (apart from yesterday).

Bmoores:

I've talk with them a lot in the French forum and the slowest player had a 128k connection but he wasn't the one experiencing delay. They all have config above the recommended settings.

check the bug forum, the same post is there with more comments from Crusader.
