Transferring a save file can take upto 5 min for a specific person, the game can only run at speed 1 and even then it stops and waits for a specific person. This hasn't always been the case.

The problem came about after the update to 1.35, but might have been there before as the problem also Is in CK2 and we don’t play that game as often.

We have tried with multiple different people as host and without some people, the same people still have the slowdowns.

Small thing that made them catch up almost instantly, was if they paused and unpaused, furthering my suspicion on the internet being somehow the problem.

This seems as far as I can see to happen between me and only some friends whenever we host. Fresh reinstallation has not helped. It always happens to the same people, no matter who host and who isn't in the game.
 
When you hit PLAY in the Steam client, choose the Nakama MP option in the mini-menu you see there. All players will have to do this, as it uses a different MP service.

If that helps, the affected players have almost certainly some Steam ports blocked

Hey Andrew, we just checked in EU4 and that seems to be working fine now with nakama, good to know and thank you very much.
However it seems that CK2 does not support this feature, so the only way would be to open up the ports for steam, to get that game to work proper?
 
That is right - CK2 ceased development before the move to Nakama.
 
Hey, Andrew sorry to write again on this thread, but we tried to play the game last day because my schedule finally cleared up, however, Nakama did not work this time. So any good idea what it could be then?

Same problem as the first title suggests, however only checked between me and one friend.
 
So EU4 worked fine for a while then this problem returned? If so, the problem must come from outside the game or the Nakama service.

Can both of you please try playing with any third person? This is to determine which of you two have the problem.
 
So we have narrowed the problem down to an internet specific error on my part. When i use another internet at a friends the problem disappears. We have full connection again without any slowdowns. When back on the original internet the problem comes back. So either the router or the internet provider gives the problem now.
Sorry for the slow response, but finding time to be sure about these things can take a little time.

If you have a VPN, enable that before starting the game. That will bypass any firewalls in your router or ISP.
