I'm allied with Scotland and two other countries, and Scotland declared war on Spain, and all of their allies got involved, so we had a nice big war.
Scotland was never actually seen on the battlefield, as far as I can tell. They just sat there.
Meanwhile, I kicked the snot out of three of the enemy countries. I could have annexed one, and the other was offering me three provinces.
While this was going on one of the other enemies is bashing one of my allies, very severely.
I would like to ask:
1) Is it possible to make peace with any of the enemy countries at any time without giving Scotland a CB?
2) Will AI alliance leaders ever make peace that gives their allies some provinces?
3) Generally, how am I supposed to handle it when I get dragged into stupid wars? Am I supposed to help the alliance leader to siege provinces, am I supposed to go do my own bashing, or what?
What ended up happening in this war is that my allies other than Scotland started bailing on the war, either by giving or getting money.
After waiting a while longer, I finally just made peace with my enemies and took the CB. A few minutes later, I saw my other allies pay indemnities, and one lost a province, then some time after that I see that Scotland has taken a white peace after three years.
What prompted this is a post where Peter Ebbesen wrote in an Austrian AAR: "Karl V withdraws Austria from the war having fulfilled his treaty obligations and gaining Serbia and Wallacia in a seperate peace."
This is typical AAR language, so I'm not sure if he's being literal or figurative, but it posed an interesting question, and I can't find the answer in a FAQ or in the manual.
What I would like to know is, what are my treaty obligations? Am I obliged to sit there in a war with 6 stars on one country, 7 on another, 6 on a third, until my ally who started the war sits there for three years and we get a white peace? Is the alliance leader going to fight until he wins a province and then ask for 250 ducats or something?
Has anyone had the AI conduct a war sensibly as war alliance leader? This was the only war I was involved in that was started by an ally, so I don't know.
