My game just wont start.
I run it, and I get an error report. (For XP).
It looks like this.

AppName: eu2.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0300ba00

I installed it, with the cd, and immediately applied the 1.05 NA patch. Can anyone tell my why this just isn't working?

Are you 100% sure it's the NA version of the game? Does the box CD have SF logos all over it? What version of the game do you have exactly?

What is the exact message that comes from admin error reporting? (most importantly the error code) If you're not sure what I'm asking I'll give you detailed instructions.

I know its the American version of the game because it worked with the NA patch before I'd lent it to my friend (And unistalled it for more room on my computer).

As for the error code, I can't exactly get that, I don't think, with XP...

When you run the administrator event tool and look up the error message, at the top of the window you should see:
Code:
[color=yellow]
Date:                        Source:
Time:                        Category:
Type:                        Event ID:
User:
Computer:[/color]
The info I'm looking for is the source, category and event ID.

Also, when you did your new install were you logged in under your administrator ID?

Have you made any recent changes to your system that might be causing problems?

Have you downloaded the binkplayer fix that is an optional download in Windows XP Update?

Have you tried un-installing, defragmenting and then reinstalling? You might want to download the patch once more in case there's a packet that dropped out in your original download.

If you're still not running, rename your \EU2\AVI folder to AVI_OLD and let me know whether that works.

I tried to see it applying 1.4 would make it work. It didn't.

What the heck could patches screw up my EU? After all, I can install it and run it on 1.00 fine, but that sucks cause it CTD's every 5 seconds and the patches are way better. (I used to have 1.5 fine...)

Let's start from the beginning then....

Go to: Start-->Run then type dxdiag.exe and run the diagnostic tools. If that works, please confirm that the version you have is 8.1

Next...go to:
Start-->Control Panel-->Performance & Maintenance-->Administrative Tools
Double click "event viewer" and then "application" and look for the first red circle with a white X in it. Double click on that and then you'll see the information I was asking for above.

Doh! Good point. Of course I sort of assume that people have tried stuff like that, but it's worth mentioning in future. :D

Glad you're up and running. :)
