For those that took part in my on going mega campaign here are some statistics from the game 1492-1551. I’m trying to build a history so if anyone wants to add what happened below then I’ll add it all in to complete the first EU MP history of the world or something similarly grandiose…

There are some awards and a list of players. The awards are entirely judgemental and where decided by me after I had eaten a box of sugarpuffs and had no sleep- so I’m a bit of a mess.

Mega Campaign list of players

1492-1505- The Franco-Spanish wars

The game opens in the West. France is obliged to turn away from the Austrian Netherlands as Spain decides not to seek America and break the power of France, the wars go Spains way and border provinces are
exchanged. This leaves Austria to secure its borders and build strong alliances in the Germany. Portugal and England take over South and North America respectively. Both establishing very powerful bases.

conquering parts of the Inca Empire and colonising most of modern day Brazil. The action switchs to the East with Sweden and Muscowy fighting it out. Both sides are left exhausted with Muscowy having a slightly upper hand gaining One province after a very long war. Sweden seems shattered.

The Ottomans crush the Mameluks breaking their power but they remain in the game with Most of North Africa. Sweden is forced to spend much of this time rebuilding after the disasterous war against Russia. Russia, too, has to rebuild but is soon on the March south. Austria take control of Hungary and becomes a substantial central European player with firm economic foundations

1551-1560 The Golden age of the Ottoman Empire

Sweden finally is able to retake its place as a major power having seen off the Danes and secured its Russian borders. The Ottomans recover from great instability despite tremendous internal challenges and are the predominant power in the region. Austria, very badly handled, is driven into internal economic collapse.

Whilst it is able to retain its territorial borders in the East, in the West it has no choice but to allow Holland to emerge. Russia consolidates on the Steppes and the great drive east to the pacific begins. Bohemia is established as a medium sized power in central Germany.

1551-1560

Waldzwerg -Russia
BenM -Bohemia
Sniper -Sweden
Ivio/ IIdjarn -Austria
L'effeceur -Ottoman Empire

1560-1567- The Lithunian Wars

Russia and Poland vie for control of Lithunia. Russia is able to take much of Lithunia making it a near superpower in the East but Poland manages to hang on for the unification of the two kingdoms. The Ottomans annex a large Crimea making it the dominant country in the caucauses and in Southern Ukraine. Sweden contines to grow but is unable to present a challenge to a now totally dominant Russia who by now has destroyed the remnents of the powers on the steppes.

1560-1567

Waldzwerg- Russia
BenM - Ottoman Empire
Sniper -Sweden
Smurf -Poland

1567-1572- The Great Colonial race

Play returns to the West. The English/ Scottish war begins in Earnest, England trying to regain North England that has deserted to Scotland. Spain takes advantage of the last days of the Treaty of Torsadilles conquering French territories in America. Whilst others are able to obtain maps of most of America and Africa and with the end of the treaty of Toresadilles the colonial race begins with the old countries of france, Spain, England and Portugal facing new competition in the form of the Netherlands and Sweden. Spain and England join the ranks of the protestants in the North.

1567-1572

BenM- Netherlands
Sniper- Sweden
Smurf- Spain
Adago- Portugal
Phadishar- Austria
L'effaceur- France
Laxen- England

1572-1580- The Demise of England

England, despite totally dominating the Eastern North American coastline is eventually defeated by a Scottish neighbour that overuns and takes all but 3 English Provinces. England is left shadow of its formerself as its colonies desert to France. Netherlands start the long haul to become acolonial power whilst Portugal destroys the remains of the old empires in South America. France retakes Calais and fends off the challenge of the Dutch rebels. Sweden becomes the great trading house of Europe controling much of the trade in Europe and funelling this wealth to feed its colonial ambitions.

1572-1580

Waldzwerg- Portugal
L'effaceur- France
BenM- Netherlands
Sniper- Sweden
Laxen- England

1581-1588- The Majesty of Imperial Spain

Spain returns to the Catholic fold, and begins the removal of the protestant heresy from its realm and it conquers the rest of Southern North America. It consolidates its position in Western Europe as the number one power backed by the wealth of the Indies. Sweden continues to grow its economy and reinforces its alliance with the Netherlands securing Protestant survival in the Low countries. Netherlands begins its slow expansion into the pacific but achieves little else. France is split by serious rebellions and is unable to build overseas. Hampered by rebellion and faced by Spanish armies France is forced to remain on the defensive but the time rebuilding is well spent.

1581-1588

Clause Boehm- France
Sniper -Sweden
Netherlands -BenM
Spain -Aggressor

1588-1601- The End of the North American tribes

Spain is particularly active during this period, short wars with England and Austria confirm Spanish predominance, both countries are forced to back down in confrontations. Sweden is drawn into a large trade war with France and is pushed out of the Franco trading zones which it once dominated, war is averted by the distance and lack of zones of influence that overlap. France launches an all out offensive against North American tribes subduing them one by one in a series of conflicts leaving the American interior almost totally in the hands of France. The Netherlands completes the exploration of the globe discovering Australia, Japan and China as well crossing the pacific for the first time, lack of finances slow any rapid expansion although colonies are established in South America, Taihiti, Luzon and Indonesia. Portugal continues to convert the south America regions to Catholism and building on its earlier conquests, South America is now almost totally Portugese and they are an immovable power.

1588-1601

Clause Boehm- France
Sniper -Sweden
Netherlands -BenM
Spain -Aggressor
Drexler- Portugal

Hmm.. Wasn't Laxen England in 1567-1572?

I recall him begging for his life as my Spanish Armada landed in Kent.

Thank you for that- if you or anyone else has any additions or corrections please let me know and I'll be happy to add them to improve the history- my memory grows fuzzy....
