You said yourself that you play to maximise your country. I have the same goal. I guess that most players have.
Why then would I suddenly think in the terms of 'us'? I never would make a deal if it didn't profit Spain.
Cooperating is nice, but only when it helps making me stronger.

To my judgment, the deal you proposed didn't profit me enough, it would of course profit Portugal to gigantic proportions, but I am not Portugal.

Besides the factual error about the profit you fail to understand my basic theory of the game. However, I will not reveal it to you since it would make you a better player. ;)

And in the end it turned out that I did the right thing when I declined your proposal.

No.

Would you let someone know, that you were afraid of a backstab? Talk about giving someone ideas ;)

No. Pity that you have not understood my character. You, and I, suffer because of this.

Marly fought together with Eugen. They trusted each other on the battlefield. That's our relationship too. So far the comparision is good.

But Marly didn't ask Eugen to sell his recruitment possibilities.

You fail to realise the degree of confidence and assistance Eugen gave Marlborough at that battle. Google around and you will understand. I did not just pick any battle. This one is special in the military history. It makes up for a good reading in general so you will have a good time reading about it. :)

Then it's very weird that you made a deal with France in game, Daniel.

This money is not that important I believe. Especially you gained MP and I gained some prestige.

I have made deals with the Ottos as well, much, much more important deals. And still I was already prepared to stand at your side should you DOW them now towards the end.

And If you were so sure that France would attack us, why then did you not warn your faithfull ally?

I did not enter my mind that you never understood this. Tell me, have you ever seen a last session in EU MP where SPA and FRA is not in war? I have not. I remember from our emails that you had FRA close to the bottom of your histlist while I had them around the top. I did not think it was necessary to say more.

It would be a better move to just take his territory by force.

Even better is to buy this now and then win something else in the upcoming war. Simple math FAL. I want to end as big as possible. As it was I gained those territories and Liguria (BTW, thanks for that :) ).

In this game yes. When a new game starts, I trust you as far as I can throw you. Which should be a couple of metres when there's no wind.

This just shows you have not learned much about my playing style despite I have given you loads of text to analyse. On the other hand I think I know you quite well now. It is always to your benefit if you understand how your opponent think. ;)

What does the few extra MP to me and the prestige to you matter, if we have to face Napoleon, Davout and Lannes on the battlefield in return? While France had the cash to build the necessary cannonfodder (and perhaps even CC's to increase his manpower as well) ?

I have made deals with the Ottos as well, much, much more important deals. And still I was already prepared to stand at your side should you DOW them now towards the end.

Regardless, if you want to form a close alliance for the last session, you should *NOT* make deals with the enemy, certainly not if he receives cash and you only prestige. Prestige doesn't help if you have to face an invasion.

The math shows me that it would be more efficient if we conquered the colonies from France instead of buying them. We then wouldn't have to pay cash and we wouldn't have to face a stronger France.

It's clearly an error to make a deal with someone who will use the cash of the deal against you.

No thanks for Liguria by the way, you send enough money to me to earned a reward ;)

Yup, I do.

But do you know how I think? :D

heh ill remember that.

so, new game or what. Gimme france i wanna kill germans!
