First, hi to all, I have just bought the game 2 days ago and I'm trying to learn this awesome game.

I have bought the retail Hearts of Iron 2: Armageddon, the one that comes with doomsday and armageddon expansions. On the DVD is the version Arma 1.0 and I've updated it today to 1.2 and the first thing I noticed is that the options of (I'm figuring the english names, because I have the game in spanish) "bellic democracy", "Retain Tech control", "Retain full IC" and "End date of the campaign" can't be read. The options are there yet, but I cannot see the characters of the options. Is it well known bug or something or I've just done something bad?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, but I dont see what option is what on the three or four that I cannot see the names. I cannot see the years on the options of the "end year of campaign" neither. My question is if this is normal, it's a bug or something of the 1.2 version or I've done something bad.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone knows positively if this is normal to happen after the installation of the 1.2 Arma patch?

Thanks in advance.

Any idea of what the causes may be? I own the spanish retail HOI2: Armageddon version. It installs directly and flawlessly. No need of install first HOI2 then Doomsday then Armageddon or something like that; it installs HOI2+Doomsday+Armageddon directly. The 1.2 patch installs flawlessly too, without any error or problem.

Thanks in advance

Have you checked to see which directory the Doomsday game, the Armageddon expansion and the v1.2 patch are installing to?

I encountered a similar missing-text problem after installing a patch, and when I un/re-installed to correct it, I noticed that the auto-installer was installing the patch to the WRONG directory.

I had to over-type the auto-install path with the correct folder name... then everything worked fine.

I reinstalled yesterday. This retail version doesn't need me to install Armageddon after installing Doomsday. Only 1 DVD. Only 1 installation and I have Armageddon. Then the 1.2 patch. Yesterday I checked if the directory of installation of the patch was the same I had installed the game and it was right.

Thanks though for the try.

This is a tech support problem, so please register your armageddon game at this forum (top left next to USER CP there´s "my games / registrations", takes about one minute and no private data). Then you have access to the tech support forum where you´ll more likely receive an answer.

I think buying a localized version was probably a mistake, since you seem to speak English pretty well you should have bought it via gamersgate. I never had any problem with the English version, while the localized German one is awful...

I changed language in my Armageddon to spanish and I got the same problem as you did. With english version everything shows up normally.

How can I change the game to english? I don't see any option for that and I don't remember to be asked for language on the installation.

Settings.cfg (in your Armageddon folder):
Code:
0 #LANGUAGE (0=english, 1 = french etc..)
1 #MUSIC (1 for on)
europa.valkyrienet.com

I went to the "my games / registrations" section of the USER CP, but it asks me for a CD-KEY. I have no CD-KEY, or I dont see it. I have searched on the CD itself (and on the contents of the CD), on the case, and in the manual and nothing :\ If it is needed I can take a photo of the case and the CD to prove I legally own the game, I have even the bill ticket. I paid 20 euros for it on Corte Ingles (one of the most famous shops trademarks of Spain). It was sealed when I bought it.

The installation itself doesn't ask me for a CD-KEY neither. That surprised me. I thought "Ok, Paradox relied on not to broadcast the manual. Printed for retail buyers and PDF for online, but not public access to it. This game without manual is like having nothing". The game doesn't require me to have the CD on the CD tray neither.

Thanks in advance.

The key should be printed on the back of the manual. There should be a white stripe with the key in it.

You don´t need it to play, but to get access to many hidden forums here. The key is usually printed on the back cover of your manual. It is of course not on the CD. If you have no key, you might want to contact on of the Paradox team about it. There was a problem with Hungarian CDs missing it IIRC.

EDIT: emu'ed. :(

Can you see the tech support forum, HERE?

If so, I'll just move the thread.

I can see the tech support forum. Move it if it is needed.

I don't see any cd-key on the manual :(. Where can I contact on the Paradox team about it?

PD: What IIRC means? and emu'ed? sorry for maybe a lame question but I don't know.

Thanks in advance

That worked for me, thanks very much. The translation to spanish was good, but I can play on english as well and maybe have less bugs (like this one).
