Great game! I did a search on the forum to find this answer, but no luck. Here goes:

When does the average nation get an explorer? As Netherlands, it is 1530 and I don't have anything but the normal generals. As France, it is 1515 and I don't have anything yet. I see English, Spanish and Portuguese colonists heading to the new world...I want to go too! Is it just a randomn thing, a scheduled thing? Can I do anything to get explorers earlier?
Thanks.

Explorers and conquistadors in EU are the same as the historical ones (except for a random event that gives nations an explorer or conquistador). Thus, as the Netherlands, you need to wait until the Dutch historically had explorers and conquistadors and then you should receive plenty. However, you can always try to steal or trade for maps and then colonize the newly revealed areas.

I know how you feel!

I hate watching everyone else colonizing the new world and me stuck without anything! You have some solutions that may help a little. If you can capture the capital of any of the four major colonizers (England, France, Spain, Portugal) you will gain all the territorial knowledge they have. If that's too difficult, you may get their maps by defeating them on the open seas. Or mabye some minor country will some how obtain good maps and you can go pounce on them. Besides that, I'm clueless.
