well thing is. it doesn't show for ALL bastards + random kids i look at randomly. am i really just being awfully unlucky with the characters i hover over? xD

Unless they're randomly created, they definitely have a father. Some bastards may be bastards because the father *thought* they were because of the high paranoia and therefore didn't claim them ... when in fact they were their children. I think that is what may be happening, if you're hovering over a bastard and its not showing real father. Of course that only works one way. If you are the real father and had a bastard with a woman who wasn't your wife, it won't say real father, cause you are the real father, but it will still be a bastard. There are only specific cases of bastards where the father is the one who is in question, in which case real father will show. Does that make sense?
