Well I tried 2 days ago to play Japan on Normal/Aggressive and selected AI to Complicate it a bit. When war broke out with China I thought I was in good position to gain territory quickly. LOL not so and I ended in stalemate which I could never beat China by 1939 let alone 1940, so I gave up the game start new.

My second go was a shocker, in December 1934 the League of Nations blamed Hungary for the murder of Alexander I and Yugoslavia declared war! That was fine thought cool a mini war in Balkans! NOPE. :eek: With all the stupid Independence Guarantees that were done before and during the war, it escalated into total war in Europe in 1935! :(

First off I thought, well might be interesting because Germany came to side of Hungary and thats when the whole enchilada blew up! Italy, Austria, Romania, Greece all DoW Germany as well as Poland who was friends with Romania. Then UK, France, Belguim and all UK puppets joined in. Germany had a 3 front war, Poland in east, Belguim in North and Austria in South and France didnt do squat in the West(figures lame Frenchmen :p) and Germany went down like beer and brauts in early 1935 to Poland who annexed them. Hungary eventually surrendered to Yugoslavia, but Romania annexed Bulgaria proper! Never ever seen this kind of wild stuff, anyone else experience it?

Now I am stuck on this dam island in the Pacific with no friends to help me and battling my own internal mayhem of trying to build anything atm. I was planning on invading Netherlands at end of year but that was a stamped out thanks to France guarantee of independence of Netherlands. So now I am not sure if I will attack China or will I have too anyways?

Here enjoy or laugh but this is one pisser of a game I might just quit or restart from original save year ago and see what happens.

Well I must be lucky but also in a major pickle with no help and Russia now could stand to send all troops to the East. Ya I am lucky I am on an island but in no way will this game be fun to play unless I really really get lucky! Only hope is to be allies with Russia and I dont think that will happen even if I tried to spend all my assets on coup and alliance.

Ya its different but not what I wanted to see happen because I wanted to test an invasion of South Asia Netherlands to gain the resources faster prior to war with China. That was blown to hell! :(
 
3rd weirdest thing, I have ever seen. Continue with Austria:D

Ya France has puny navy but they are all allied right now and dont need a war with 6 countries this early! If this didnt happen I would have invaded Netherlands late in 1935 but if I do it now I risk the entire UK navy and French Navy in Asia and I have not researched any brigades for my navy at all.

Playing Japan is really tough because they are severely handicapped by resources and industrial capacity. At most you can build 2 infantry units with maybe some brigades and a few Infra improvements but then you have to trade like mad for resources because your economy sucks it up fast. Very much a challenge to balance this out.

Maybe this is why in all my games playing Germany, Japan has been nonexistent before invasion of Poland in 1939. All 5 games I have played as Germany, Japan has been beat before 1939 by China and kicked out of Asian continent all together. Something has to change to balance this out as resources are very scarce world wide but it puts major constraints on production and technology research. Japan only starts with 4 tech slots and I had to build 4 factories the first year just to get that last tech slot so they are already a year behind the major allies, by 1934. Sigh!
 
I guess the events are not programmed to handle an "Early Exit of Germany"? Still been seeing events involving Germany fire off with other countries after Poland annexed them previous year.

Is this something that is not included in the event system?

I have just conquared Germany with Poland and.... there are not german revolters. Where the lot of new countries?
 
I have seen this kind of thing several times when starting in '33.

One game I played as Italy and I invaded and annexed Spain immediately after the nationalists won. Somehow that messed up Germany, because they could not beat Poland in a standup fight in '39! I DoW on Germany just because it was obvious they were going to lose. I only got about a third of the country, the rest went to Poland. Then, Poland attacked USSR around '41 and beat the crap out of them. USSR never had 'Great Patriotic War' and got annexed by Poland around '43.

A different game I played as Turkey, and I attacked and annexed Bulgaria. This started a chain reaction which led to France invading and annexing Germany and Italy both by late '35. After that I could not really do much because the French were too tough and would get a DoW on me if I attacked anyone else.
 
Well, I just played as a Germany in 1933, and when war broke out in 1939, and I was supposed to roll over Poland as usual...but wait, what? Its 11/1939 and Iam actually fighting with them for Berlin! What the hell is that? I sent 13 divisions, including 2 armored ones, against their 4 infantry divisions, and I lost the battle, and it was all again and again! WTH?
 
I dont think AoD is broken, then again I dont play version 1.05 and IC together. If you are losing to Poland as Germany then you must not have the revision 2 installed for IC. Only way for Poland to steam roll Germany is to attack like in 1934 or 35 when Poland has more troops then Germany will have. Well at least thats how I see it happening.

In my game playing Japan (screenshots above) Germany got spanked in 1935 early because of the good old events that saw Hungary attack Yugoslavia over the death of Alexander I which the League of Nations blamed on Hungary. Wait I mean Yugoslavia DOW Hungary, sorry. That lead to the chain reaction of war with every country in Europe which saw Bulgaria get annex by Romania and Poland annex Germany while Austria got a few north provinces, Belguim got a lot of northern provinces with amphib assault and UK got 2 provinces, then Hungary sued for peace with Yugo and borders went back to some what normal though Poland is now the new Germany in Europe more resources and industry then France and Italy now with troops to hold their own too.

I was so pissed off with this happening but I have continued my game with Japan and working on China now in 1937 and its a slugfest because I did not build infantry soon enough and China with all the chinese states combined out number me 2 to 1 or more. It is interesting to play yet still dont know what will happen and USSR does not even have any troops on border with my puppet nation, so thats scaring me atm.

Will USSR attack Poland in 1939 or sooner? Will Poland attack Austria and Hungary after Peace Treaty expires in 1938? Will Poland attack USSR at all? Very interesting game so I will keep playing to see what happens. I do know the USA is geared for war now seen all the events and its still 1937 so I know I will get eaten alive once war breaks out with USA or any Allies.
 
I had the similar events fire, however instead of Germany getting dragged in, some event fired that put most of Europe back to peace..except poor Yugoslavia was annexed by Italy, Austria and Hungry....that did make things fun :)
