No Zheng He

I'm playing through as China, but when I start the game, Zheng He is not there, and he never shows up. What's up with this?

Version 1.00 I tried installing 1.07, but it says 'Europa Universalis II is not installed, patching aborted'.

I checked every province. He's nowhere.

you should really try to get one of the newer patches as 1.00 is virtually unplayable....

there is a link in the support forum to older patches - maybe they work?

EDIT: are you absolutely sure you downloaded the correct version?

You should probably try the support forum as well, as it should be possible to patch the game. Have you tried to reinstall it before adding the 1.07 patch?

Well, oddly enough, it's working now, but the graphics are screwy...

Rargh. Dled the new version of DirectX, no luck. No other problems. All other games run fine. Problem started when I installed 1.07

Uninstall the game totally. Defrag your hard disk. Install the game then 1.07 immediately, then rename the AVI folder to AVI_OLD before you run it for the first time. Then try it.

Note: please follow the complete uninstall instructions in this forum's FAQ to remove the game (link in my sig) before doing the defrag etc. that AndrewT recommends.
