Summary

Not getting a discount on technologies researched by another nation

Expected Result

According to the in-game Infopedia: “As more Nations research a Technology, the cost of researching it is discounted.”

Since discounts tend to appear very quickly in the Age of Stone, I had always assumed that as soon as a nation finishes researching a tech, each other nation immediately gets a -10% discount on the research cost of that tech.

Actual Result

An AI had access to certain units/was advancing to the next age which means they must have unlocked the appropriate (number of) technologies from the current Age of Information. However, when I mouse over Age of Information techs in the tech screen, the tooltips don’t mention any “-10% from other nations” discount and the tech costs are not reduced (except from my Social Fabric).

Steps to reproduce

Example A (turn 242 save):
- Rome has access to Guided Artillery (near Mediolanum), so they must have researched Microprocessors
- there is no “-10% from other nations” discount on Microprocessors in the technology screen

Example B (turn 247 save):
- Rome is advancing to the next age, so they must have researched at least 4 technologies from the Age of Information
- I have researched 3 technologies. If we assume that Rome also has the same 3 technologies, there should be at least one other discounted tech, but all remaining Age of Information techs are full price

I don’t know. It might work as intended, but in that case tech discounts should be explained in more detail in the Infopedia. Anyway, thanks for investigating!
