I logged into Stellaris recently after a brief hiatus, and started getting ungodly amounts of lag. At first, it only happened when I selected a certain tab in the Empire Creator (I can't remember which one), and would lag my game until I exited to desktop. I was able to get around that by creating my empire, saving, exiting the game, then loading up and going right in. Now, Stellaris lags like crazy as soon as I load into a game and continued lagging even after I exited to main menu.

My computer specs are listed below. Please let me know if there's any additional info I can provide to help fix this, the lag has been making the game outright unplayable.

lease do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

THEN Right click on stellaris.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate to refresh rate 60.

If that doesn't help:
Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .
