It would seem I was GROSSLY misinformed of the history of WWII. CORE would seem to suggest that the evil axis of Turkey, Egypt, and SWITZERLAND!!! were the most vile nations on earth, as within 2 days of starting the game, about 2 dozen nations had declared war on each of them ( I was the US, and no, i didnt make any war declarations, or do anything else out of the ordinary). Although the above 3 were the most common targets, there were others. Argentina declared war on Italy, because obviously, Italy were the ones behind the UK occupation of the Falklands. The latent hostility between El Salvador and Ethiopia finally erupted into open conflict. Ooh, and Bulgaria, turns out the Bulgarians REALLY hate the chinese!

Seriously, though, any ideas as to what went wrong?

try starting a new game, i doubt that will happen again... although, it sounds kinda amusing

Hi,

This only happens for certain installs. So I'm suspicious something is wrong with your install. But we haven't proven that as a fact. What I am sure of is that on 100's of test games I've never seen it myself. What are your Checksum values for HOI2 and CORE2?

mm

Well it does seem the odd runaway game stuck it's ugly head again. I had it too, though only once, during beta testing. As it isn't really reproducible (we had about three of those during several months of testing) it still pops up once in a while. Surprisingly the Swiss usually are in the thick of it. Most probably the beligerence needs some tweaking, so I guess we will get it fixed in 0.30. For now just restart and most likely it won't happen again. Amazingly enough you too had it on the 2nd of January, 1936 - maybe the rosti or the cheese dip got spoiled during new year's celebrations.

Well, I'm reinstalling doomsday and then core, just to be on the safe side... maybe I changed some files and forgot about it. Not to worry, with something as complicated as CORE, somethings bound to go wrong once in a while

edit:
Well, that just made it worse. Now CORE won't run at all. At least the war declarations were mildly amusing

You did patch DD first to 1.2, didn't you?

I haven't got a clue... :(

I'm playing the US and around 1944 I had Paraguay (a country with no coast) attacking Haiti (an island) and axis attacking others countries aswell the same day and quickly after the many DOW messages it CTD, I reloaded the game from the autosave and it has not happened again so far. I have core 0.25 on dd 1.2 REBB.
And I had SU attacking Japan in 1940 but i guessed it was normal tho historicaly odd.

Those weird DOW's are being looked at. Hopefully they normally come at random (if at all), so reloading usually solves it. It's high up on the to-do list, as they happen more frequently than we had anticipated.

As to the Soviets attacking Japan in 1940: yes that can happen, depending on the outcomes of the tensions with Japan chain.
