Greetings fellow GOT lovers,
I'd like to ask what is the supposed pattern to obtain a dragon egg.

During my current game I've noticed that there is only 1 in existance but there doesn't seem to be neither a decision nor a plot to obtain it and both conquering the province where it was held or kidnapping the holder did not help.

I'd like the help of the most experienced players! Thanks!

I know that this may already be known by you, but the "Obtain a Dragon egg" ambition should be selected. It helps with the odds of getting an event handing over or even finding a new egg that wasn't even known to exist (though I doubt that the latter can happen in the game).

Killing the owner is fine too, especially if you want a dragon, since it will have been so attached to its owner that it will make a dragon pit and I'm sure that there is an event chain that can make you tame a grieving dragon with some special consideration of your choices. But I'm not an expert at this, so forgive me please. ;)

It has been a awhile since I tried this path but I agree that it seemed tied to the "Obtain an egg" path. I seem to remember that visiting certain ruin sites (maybe about 8 total possible) would give bonuses that would improve the odds of at least hatching an egg successfully. I don't recall if they help improve the odds of finding the eggs though but for some reason I thought they did. It also seemed like the eggs that came through that chain were not tied to any existing eggs in the world as that is how I got my dragon. Perhaps should read the event file but cannot be bothered at the moment.

It helps to hold Dragonstone since I think that is a default location for dragons to fly to if they are ownerless. If you want a live one.

Edit: Looked it up after it bugged me. Seems like holding former North Valyria ruins can grant an egg which might be how I actually got mine since that was true. The intel mentioned above does not help find new eggs but does help hatch, tame and get new eggs from existing dragons. As well as being High Valyrian or reading books about dragons in summerhall or kings landing help if not in age of dragons. There are a lot of conditions on these so haven't tried to figure out the best course. Another case seems to be Red Priests suddenly showing up with one if you have a demon child (intriguing).

I just tried a test game now, and I found a great way to get a Dragon. I selected "Show me the Dragons" then I selected the option for showing Wild Dragons (i.e. not owned by anyone) and I got an event chain and voila! I tamed a Dragon.
