Hello friends,

I haven't seen an official response on any mention of the tree tool bugginess. I've seen many posts and comments all having trouble with this and as deco is a huge part of playing the game, I'd really appreciate if you could acknowledge that it is a bug and give us some comfort that it's not just going to go unaddressed.

The issues are as follows:
  • Broken hit detection prohibiting plopping trees in smaller spaces or near roads
  • Tree brush doesn't work as intended. It does not allow for adjusting density, even if you toggle the "strength"
These issues make it impossible to reach the same level of detail as before which is especially painful as the console version already struggles in this regard . Please don't take the little bit of control we already have.

Give us back our tree freedom, please.

Cheers

Yea tree tool is lame but can we get them to focus on the dezoning bug that makes the game unplayable. I'll take not being able to put trees next to roads for a couple months, I want my city to go past 10k people without constantly moving out.

I agree, something seems a bit off with tree placement. In my experience I try to place a single tree, the circle is green indicating I’m trying to place it in an acceptable spot, but when I press the controller button to actually place it, the circle turns red. It’s as if I actually placed the tree there, but it’s invisible and I can’t see it. This typically happens when trying to place trees near sidewalks.

In order for tree intensity to work properly, I have to make the ring as large as possible and the intensity as high as possible. Anything less, the game won’t place very many trees.

I think this is something they need to go back and look at and tweak.

I disagree.. Tree placement is one of the main decor items in the game and not being able to place them as before leaves the city looking incomplete and shoddy.. For me that means a broken game.. Just my opinion though!

that's like saying your car is broken because the cigarette lighter burnt out.
the car still works 99.9% but you have a small inconvenience.

just go back later when its patched and touch up the trees, there I fixed the broken game for you.

The purpose of the post is to get some official confirmation the tree issue is a known issue and it's not just some new result from the changes they made to the tree tool and we're all just living with it. While the tree tool bug is not game breaking, the fact that it hasn't been officially acknowledged just makes me less cozy. I'd feel better knowing it was on their radar.

The tree tool being buggy is annoying, but it doesn’t make the game broken.

That being said I’m really disappointed by the radio silence from the company towards the console users.

Between the tree tool, the zones buildings resetting themselves constantly, the missing icons for the new districts, Concerts showing unlocked but no buildings being unlocked, the building styles starting as unlocked and locking itself if interacted with and probably other issues I haven’t seen, there are quite a lot of issues introduced by their latest addition of content.

The minimum I’d expect from a company is to reassure their player base with a statement that they are aware of bugs and an approximate timeframe of when to expect a patch. But outside of the workaround about the unlimited money, I don’t think I’ve seen a single response regarding bugs since the hotfix.

I’m aware that Paradox isn’t doing the console version, but they are the publisher, the are the ones taking the lion share of our purchases, it’s their responsibility to ensure that the company they hired to do the conversion is playable, to make sure they do the appropriate testing and to fix bugs afterward if needed.

The radio silence is in them. This was on their official Twitter (Cities_pdx) six days ago “Our production team just got back from visiting Tantalus in Australia, so we'll sit down and see what new things we can cook up for Console =)”. Somehow discussing bug fix and letting the players know when they plan to fix them either wasn’t part of the discussion or they decided it was better not to tell fans.
