3DS Max seems nice and cool and all that, except for one thing - we who are a "wee bit" older that the required student license limit, must pay a rather hefty sum for access to that software - therefore this question;
Is there any similar FREE software out there, one could use in the same manner?
There's "Blender", which you can get on https://www.blender.org/
It's a tool for many purposes and can be a bit overwhelming, but there are many tutorials available.
Search for "Blender" + "Cities Skylines" or "Unity" (the games engine) + "asset creation".
