Summary

Older saves crash after update

Description

After the update to 1.10.0 (Quill), I am once again unable to play older saves. After starting the save, it crashes a few minutes later. Now I understand that the players are warned beforehand and this is widely acknowledged. I still wanted to report this issue in hopes of this being noticed and getting fixed soon. I am thankful for the PDX team for the communication and interaction they provide. There is this very small frustration of not being able to play older saves properly.

Steps to reproduce

Load saves older than 1.10.0

Game Version

1.10.0 (Quill)

Platform

Windows

Glad to see I'm not the only one
It appears that I've actually resolved this by:
  1. Starting the older save (on 1.9.2.1) after update (1.10.0). The game should then consider this as a 1.10.0 save.
  2. Reverting to an older version (to 1.9.2 and 1.7.0 respectively) and then going back to the latest version (1.10.0)
The crash no longer occurs on my part.

How do I do that? Haha

On Steam, Right click on CK3. Click "Properties and then "Betas". After that, select the version from the dropdown menu of Betas.

However, it turns out, that this is not a solution but a workaround. Because after 3-4 hours, I started experiencing the crashes again.

PDX team, help pls :(
