I Know it is a tad bit early yet to talk about overhaul mods, but with the dev teams emphasis on modability I hope it can reach simcity 4 levels, like the Simcity Mars overhaul.
It would be great for a modder or more probably a group of modders to completly start from the ground up when it comes to models of buildings, vehichles and textures of roads so I... I mean We all lol, can make the futuristic cities of our dreams the latest simcity had a nice aesthetic for its future stuff but the game itself let that down I imagine allot of people would agree but when I imagine a futuristic city of my dream I see something like this:

- the flying buildings maybe thats too super future but im sure city fans and sci fi nerds alike will get what I mean.

Being a fan of many different city games and mass transit sims I also do like the idea of victorian style, frontier and colonial styles of gameplay. Maybe something around 1890's to 1910 and start it off there with horses and carts and some early automobiles with steam trains and boats, personally I wouldn't really go for the medieval style since I would just play banished. But its nice to hear that the dev's are thinking about different time spans. I also think that the different time spans may go a bit deeper into how people run there city ,for example a small 1910 town could focus allot more on the civilians needs and import and export of goods, whilst a 2075 city would be handling wider issues in new technology for services like water treatment for hundreds of thousands of people or new methods in transportation, As an example anyway

From what we've been told I believe this sort of thing should be possible with modding.

Definitely.

Personally I'd much rather see us add more old-timey stuff before we dive into the future, as cities with a proper older core is much more appealing (once again personal opinion) than purely futuristic towns.

But yeah, modding and all that.

well I think the interesting part will be that we can build around the medieval/colonial/victorian town center and actually have history behind it.

Yep I agree with this too. I'd like my city to have a history, to be able to see it evolve. Start off with older building sets and as I build around it newer buildings become available, watcing the city evolve and balancing progression with preserving the history. Turn an old industrial area that may not be required anymore as the city's economy becomes service or high tech oriented into a new development that sits alongside a city centre full of Victorian buildings that I've 'made historic' so they don't change. Every district would have some kind of history that way, depending on when that particular area boomed.

I thought you meant literally adding roads that are for overhaul amounts of heavy traffic (heavy vehicles, big rigs, trucks, etc.)

I as well have been away from SC4 for a long time, still have my old city historic maps printed for my realistic games!

I can tell you it's the best simcity genre game I have played and the potential is enormous!!

I would love to to have a mod that included 1) "Make Historical" for buildings 2) and improved SC4 "Historical Architecture" (extra bonus if it includes "Historical transportation" - ie cars/trains/boats/airplanes/bridges - and divided as in the example below:

1860-1900
- American style
- European Style
- Asian style
- African style
- Middle East style

1910-1940
- American style
- European Style
- Asian style
- African style
- Middle East style

1950-1980
- American style
- European Style
- Asian style
- African style
- Middle East style

1990-2020
- American style
- European Style
- Asian style
- African style
- Middle East style
