And now the 1200 recap!

Anward: A loyal but quiet dynasty, they have lived in Moray for their entire life. They temporarily rose to prominence by aiding the destruction of the Wendel dynasty. Despite being small they have many men to continue their line. What threatens them right now is the risk of having their only province revoked.

Berglen: The only Paradox duchal dynasty of Ireland to consistently hold their land. They first came to prominence with Bror 'the Butcher' who inherited Meath from his mother in 1198. Surrounded by 3 Luks dynasty (Luks being the main crony for the Groth dynasty) Bror struggled to survive. However under his rule he took Kildare and solidified it as the eastern Irish duchy. They gained resilience by having enough power that dethroning them would take enough effort to make it not worth it.

Bialecki: The perpetual thorn in the back of the Moores, until their untimely revocation in 1173 the Bialeckis had been vying for the Duchy of Penthievre. They themselves ruled the county of Penthievre but Gustav gave the duchy to the Moores of Rennes. This drive was the only thing keeping them going. This came to ahead when an angry Arthur Bialecki (Also notable for the most luscious long hair I have ever seen) challenged the Lunatic Daniel Moore to a duel. In his rage Arthur Bialecki slaughtered Daniel Moore. Despite this the Bialeckis could not ascend and this drove Arthur to insanity. He was executed by Nomedas III at age 96. The only other two rulers were either trying to copy him or didn't rule long enough to do anything

Bjarnehed: One of the dynasties to start with two rulers. Mathilda Bjarneheds line had real aspirations but one of the Groth cronies ended their reign of Cornwall before they could do much. Deric's line seemed aimless at best, every time they did almost anything it just kind of fizzled out. The Bjarnehed line is effectively dead except for the fact that Deric (now castrated) is somehow still living at the ripe age of 147. Alongside Mario Lasan they just don't seem to die

Bodlund: A house whos legacy was born of luck. Tobias and his children failed to do anything and lost much of their original land. This was rectified only due to Thordis Bodlund matrilineally marrying the fourth son of a small count in Wales. As luck would have it, the first 3 children died and the count became the duke of Gwynedd. The Bodlunds have ruled that land ever since.

Clohessy: A small dynasty in all senses of the word. No Clohessy has ever had more than 4 children and all but 1 has had 3 or less. Living in Desmond they were far away from most conflicts and kind of just existed there. Probably they dynasty I most likely would want to be, because they living in wide open fields, ruling easily and without much political intrigue.

Cowhig Croft: Unlike the other single county dynasties the Cowhig Crofts have been anything but calm. Their rise to violence was first caused by Tobias Bodlund murdering Ewan Cowhig Croft in cold blood. From there it devolved into chaos. The ruling branch did not seem to be affected but their many wings were snipped by their own claws. Nearly 50% of all non-rulers of this dynasty have been murdered or killed in combat.

Part 2 of the 1200 report

Enberg: The Enbergs are notable for being the only Paradox dynasty to be sainted. Originally they lost their land to the British Crusade (With the pope sanctioning a lustful, slothful, proud and gluttonous to take over for a man who he would one day canonize). However due Eira Eikenschild (Saint Laurences mother) sudden death the Enbergs were back in the game.

Groth: The imperial dynasty. The Groths are synonymous with Paradox just like Capetians to France or the Rurikids to Russia. However unlike these saps who had to work for their power Gustav Groth was handed his on a silver plate. A silver plate he would use to serve up his 'friends'. Gustav himself was personally responsible for 15 executions including 7 Paradox rulers. Gustavs rule was not a long one, lasting 2 mere decades before he was slain by Daniel 'the Merry' Moore but despite this his mark was felt throughout the lifespan of Paradox Empire. Many of the titles he revoked went to his loyal ally, the Luks. Ever since then more and more land was given to the Luks. After Gustav came a rough time with his children fighting. After a few decades it did settle out and the Nomedas line began. It wasn't until Nomedas II 'the Inquisitor' that the reign of terror continued. Even to 1200 defying the Groth will spells the death of ones dynasty. The only dynasty to openly defy the Groths and get away with it was the Moores

Horler: A small dynasty who was nearly destroyed by the Groths. For some reason Cydrych Poison-Tooth Horler (Grandson of David Horler) annoyed Nomedas IV and he revoked their title, right now they are just in a death spiral waiting for their eventual demise

Lasan: The immoving dynasty. They received a duchy within the first year and they have refused to move ever since. This is mostly due to the fact that Mario Lasan just won't die. He somehow received 40+ health and is now 166.

Louie: The Louie dynasty was the undisputed rulers of Ireland, they held the Duchy of Connacht and they exerted their power throughout Munster, Leinster and Meath however with the death of Callisto 'the Terrible' the Louie dynasty was plunged into a civil war where they lost all power outside of Connacht and they even lost the duchy to the Ross dynasty. Whether or not they can recover is still to be seen.

Moore: The Moores have had a complicated history both as a ruler and a subject. As a ruler Daniel oppressed the Bialeckis arguably driving Arthur Bialecki to slay him in personal combat but to the rest of his subjects he was kind and earned the epithet 'the Merry'. As a subject he should have been grateful for the duchy he was given but he instead decided to kill his benefactor. Even then it was expected that he would suffer the same fate that so many who opposed the emperor but yet they survived arguably even thrived.

Norberg: By far the quietest yet also the happiest dynasty. Most of their family lived happily with their lovers in the island of Anglesey. Recently however there has been a string of affairs that led to nearly a dozen bastards that have been used in the Oltners schemes

Oltner: One of the most powerful dynasties. Unlike Groth they rose to power through sweat and blood. Each Oltner worked themselves to the bone and put everything they could towards growing. When a bastard was born they would exploit it. It was these exploits of a handsome rogue of the the Oltner dynasty (Caissene) wormed his way into Lleuca Norbergs heart and tore apart her family. However it did net the Oltners the county of Clydesdale.

Riggott: Originally a small time dynasty in the Orkney Isles the Riggotts expereinced a rapid change in their environment due to their assistance in the Crusade for Jerusalem. As a result they gained the duchy of Galilee and they have been slowly growing ever since

I have 8 left and they will be done tomorrow and then on Friday I will have a normal post

Finally, my dynasty (Oltner) is up to something! Too bad they had to go after the peaceful Norbergs though, oh well - all is fair in love and love.

Keep up the good work, this is really fun to read!

I think we need more on the man himself, Gustav Groth. That opening rulership was absolutely insane.

I think we need more on the man himself, Gustav Groth. That opening rulership was absolutely insane.

Your wish is my command. Gustav Groths rule was split in 2, the first lasted from 1066-1072 and the second lasted from 1082-1084. In the first 6 years he destroyed 12 dynasties and executed 13 people (including 7 Paradox Rulers). In those six years he managed to anger enough people that between 2 revolts every duchy except York revolted against him. It finally ended in 1072 when he lost a revolt to Carl von Carenwall. They placed his son (The only one not named Nomedas) on the throne and everything was fine until Budo died in 1082 and Gustav took the throne again. Returning directly to form he revoked the titles of those who conspired against him and he would have continued had Daniel Moore not put a stop to it by tossing him off a bridge.

Ross: My least favorite dynasty to record by far, because Ross brings up so many damn people and it takes forever to sift through. Anyway the Ross dynasty was one of the casualties of the crusade. They held on by sheer force of will until the duchess of Connacht (Ben Muman Louie) died and left her grandson (Cynfael Ross) the duchy. This happened 13 years ago and what they do with their newfound power is yet to be seen.

Salder: The duchal Salder dynasty held up rather well until 1184 where Groth exacted his revenge on Thorolfr Magnusson Salder for his fathers crime of allying with a revolt. The Salders became minor counts until 1109 where Gustavs grandson Nomedas II 'The Inquistor' decided to give their original duchy back to them (The Isles). From there the Salders quickly settled in to their refound power by coming to terms with their loss and staying out of most fights.

Skjaeran: The Skjaerans were one of the most powerful county dukes in Ireland. At times they held power of the Luks who 'ruled' them. This was often due to their large families and close ties with the other counties and duchies of Ireland. Eventually however they got to big for their britches and Bruatur Skjaeran openly rivaled his duke... which resulted in the revocation of their title and their ensuing landlessness.

Tammpere: Much like the Skjaerans the Tammperes often controlled their dukes through their dealings with the northern counts. However unlike Skjaeran they lost their land due to a mishap with cloistering and depression. One of the Tammperes cloistered the 3rd son and then the first 2 died of depression so when death came for Trengus he had no children left to give it to. The closest relative was not a Tammpere and thus they lost their land.

Urban: The original dukes of Ulster the Urbans were heavily tied to the Revolt of '68 and thus when Gustav took back the throne he attracted the ire of Gustav and thus the duchy was revoked. They retreated to Hy-Many but quickly lost it because they were adjacent to the burgeoning Louie held duchy of Connacht

Wester: A small dynasty who held a single county in Scotland. Until Nomedas IV fell in love with a Wester girl (inverse pet shop boys) and with a little convincing Nomedas IV granted her father the duchy of Albany and the Westers were in power. Ever since then they have been slowly growing by eating small counties. They are now the most powerful duchy in Scotland.

Witzen: A small dynasty who barely avoided the Crusade. Even though they weren't kicked out of power by the Crusade they were the location of many of the largest battles and they got their province burnt to the ground more than a few times. Due to this they have been unable to rise even with the aid of a few genius counts. It is difficult to say if they will be able to rise but I would lean towards no.

Woewodskij:The Woewodskij dynasty is the luckiest dynasty except for the Groths. They had their land revoked by the Groths only for a few well placed deaths the Woewodskij not only gained land in Paradox but they even became a dukes of Leon. Even when their land in Leon was threatened the adventurer who was going to invade him died of cancer before he could even attempt an invasion. Woewodskij has a unique position in this house of cards because they hold land both in and out of Paradox thus giving them a second security net.
