It seems to work so far on 64-bit Arch (installed, logged in, clicked the buttons) though I can't test it much further, since I don't own Stellaris yet. BTW, it seems the link at https://accounts.paradoxplaza.com/downloads have to be updated, because I only have an option to download the Win32 .msi installer :)

yes it seems that does not update the html of the download page at the moment I believe that the package is beta, it is not official in the page of download to see if some users had no problems

Thanks a lot, that is a nice surprise.
I just installed the launcher on Ubuntu 18.04 and then Stellaris and just launched a game which worked. I didn't get around to really playing yet.

I have a minor improvement request: When there is not enough free diskspace to install a game, please tell how much is needed, and not just that there is not enough:)

I was moving the files and it seems that the launcher will have support for the pillars of eternity, battletech, tyranny, surviving mars.
I hope you can see hearts of iron 4, ck2, and EU4

Works for me too on Slackware. I will try Surviving Mars as that title doesn't run for me since the last major Opportunity patch as it freezes in game, using the PDX Launcher maybe worth a shot.

The developer said that only Stellaris currently has a version for the Linux launcher.

To be transparent, even though there's a bunch of games with Linux versions, it's a bit of work to get them up on the launcher, that's why we only have Stellaris on it now. I'm not responsible for schedule, but I think more games will be rolled out to it soon.

Glad you folks liked it!

Question - when will the launcher get some upkeep love? Example - news, dlc or patches etc about each of the games available in the launcher are clearly missing on the launcher "news" tab for each game? why?

Other examples - DLCs on SM etc available on steam but not in the launcher? (This was on me, hadnt updated my launcher - my bad)

Hi all,

Time to create a thread for keeping you guys updated on what is happening on the launcher and game distribution side of Paradox.

June 27, 2018: Paradox Launcher - Linux version

Cheers

Any ETA when Mac version will be worked on or completed? Just want to get an idea how far out I'll have to wait before I can play again. Steam on Mac is a bit outdated in the user interface department, so waiting for your launcher instead. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Yep. Steam is FUBAR on Mac. I don't know which player base is larger, but I'm kind of worried about Mac support in the future. Especially with OpenGL/CL being deprecated.

I've been using the Linux launcher (1.0-beta24) on Debian and NixOS, and have made it work well on both (NixOS required some wrangling, but that's because the runtime environment it provides is very weird in general).

There's one specific issue I've been having, which is that it doesn't list the _Distant Stars_ DLC for Stellaris at all. It's listing all the others (e.g. _Utopia_ and _Apocalypse_) and installing them fine, but _Distant Stars_ isn't there.

Likely related to this, it prints the following to stdout:
Log level: info
[custom config file] Read custom config from 'config.json'
2018-07-14T19:00:30.660Z - warn: DLC not found in the backend: 'dlc019_distant_stars'
2018-07-14T19:00:31.457Z - warn: DLC not found in the backend: 'dlc019_distant_stars'

I suspect there's something iffy about that specific DLC; it'd be great if you could have a look. I'm attaching my cpatch.log in case it helps with debugging.

Hey all,

installed the linux paradox launcher today to install and play Stellaris on linux mint. When I press Launch Game nothing happens. No error, no game, nothing. Do I need certain dependencies for it to work? I have installed the Nvidia driver and the rest of the Mint installation is fresh but updated.

Stellaris is not officially supported on Mint, regardless of which client you run it from. Does it run from Steam okay?

I'm not sure we've had a statement of what distros the Paradox client itself is supported on though; @ReverseVarangian ?

@AndrewT
Yes it runs perfect on Steam. I just can't keep using it because Steam policy doesn't like VPN connections and going offline every time I want to play Stellaris isn't really a solution. I noticed twice when installing the game from the Paradox launcher that there was an error (the red field with 'dismiss' button under the progress bar) but after that I saw the launch button.
So to be clear: I installed the paradox launcher twice on mint, both on seperate users, installed the game, got the error , then I could press button to launch the game. The red error field didn't say why there was a problem btw, I thought it was resolved cause the game kept installing.

If the Steam version runs okay then I guess this is a launcher issue not a game issue. Until @ReverseVarangian gets here, see if you can find the logs for the launcher and attach here if so.
