v1.2.0-345R showed up in the Paradox Launcher today when I logged on. Thank you.

Here is my concern, Paradox/HBS... you OWN the game that is in the launcher and yet you didn't make the patch available for a WEEK after it was available on Steam and GoG. I mean this in all the kindest ways... but WHAT.THE.F@#$!! Shouldn't your own game launcher get the update AT THE SAME TIME? Or at the very least, BEFORE a non-Paradox/HBS gaming platform? This feels completely back-asswards for how you should be running your game launcher.

/end_constructive_criticism

You are correct, of course - The launcher should be at least in parity as compared to other distribution channels (Steam, GOG or what have you). Alas, in this instance our processes failed us and the release fell firmly and resolutely through the cracks. I apologize for the delay and promise that we are hard at work both on our release processes as well as technical support systems that will eventually minimize the risk for this type of glitch in the future.

hi everyone,

I had to make space and i had unistalled my previous version of the launcher.
i get the new beta version from paradox plaza website
the beta 29 has been installed.
Paradox launcher works, my account logged. ok

then.....
I wanted to reinstall my Stellaris and Surviving Mars and here it came back again :
that dreadful issue message "Could not download installation metadata."

what could i do please ?

Make sure you are logged into the launcher.

Make sure you run it as the Windows Admin user.

Make sure it is allowed through all firewalls, and that all traffic to and from api.paradoxplaza.com is allowed through.

Make sure it is in the exceptions list/whitelist of your antivirus app.

A tiny note: only run the launcher as an admin in case something is wrong, to determine whether your problem is an access problem. Don't run it as an admin regularly. Otherwise, what @AndrewT said are good first troubleshooting steps :)

Can I ask why not? Will that cause a problem? Because that has been the go-to fix basically since first release.

No more than: it's inconvenient and it's generally not recommended for security reasons to run programs as an admin unless it's necessary. That is to say: it's necessary if there's a problem or bug that prevents you from playing your game, but not otherwise :)

(Final edit: also, on launch we had a few serious bugs with the elevation code, later on we fixed a bunch of them, so now we think it should pretty much work)

We're looking into the issue at the moment - I'll get back as soon as we know what's up.

Edit: How odd. I seem to be able to install and run the launcher on my Fedora 28. We continue our investigation.

Not working on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed or Fedora 28 for me either. I get the same error output. The:
Code:
"Execute patch: downloading repo metadata: server returned a non-2XX status code"
part seems to indicate that it can't communicate with the paradox server properly?
All traffic to and from api.paradoxplaza.com must get through. Maybe check your firewall settings?

We seem unable to reproduce it locally at the office. It appears to be CDN-related and as such can be different depending on where you are located (the best bugs to hunt!). If possible, and if the problem persists, can I ask you to mail Support with the cpatch.log file?

Hi, can you give us an estimate on when the "Coming soon for Mac" is supposed to be released?

I'm afraid the time-frame is still "Soon™"

I've looked into it myself and I think my problem is due to my local setup. You are correct that it is CDN related, encrypted communication with api.paradoxplaza works well (amazon), but un-encrypted port 80 traffic to some CDN in Dallas throws errors (404). This seems to be due to AWS being exempt from my VPN in the firewall so the second CDN gets the wrong address. If I run everything over the VPN it seems to work just fine. :)

Plenty of data-traffic via Amazon these days, so I would guess other people who run their VPN on their fw/router and bypass it for AWS would have a similar problem.

I would like to report that in the paradox launcher it is only showing stellaris and incomplete, however as you can see in my icons I have more games with launcher support
in linux

Good evening, after do the minor 2.1.3.1 update on the Paradox Launcher version, the game crash in the main menu just after it loading.
I am using Lubuntu 18.04.1.If i launch the game from Steam,it works fine,so i think it's a paradox launcher issue.

I send you the logs files for the crash.

Cordially.

Have a nice day.

Merged into appropriate thread.

I'm having the same crash that magriboy0750 described, ie. at the main menu. This is on Windows 10, on Stellaris version 2.1.3.1, via the Paradox Launcher.

Here are the logs.
