This is more involved than how it might at first appear. Really old games make very little money, meaning that it's hard to recuperate the invested effort in supporting them. Newer but out-of-development games are typically tied to Steam in ways that necessitate development effort. This effort might be profitable in itself, but would eat into development of our newer (also unreleased or even unannounced) games, meaning an opportunity cost that is hard to offset. New games typically go onto the PDX Distribution platform though.

Some old titles might be released in the future, but please don't hold your breath! We have a bit more to do than we strictly have time for (though we always have time for vacation! ;) )
The groundwork for this was done in recent launcher releases - We'll work with better content curation going forward. Hopefully, you'll be pleased once we get it up anbd running!

Several game teams are actually looking at this type of stat collection already! I can't really divulge too much about it though, you'll have to wait and see! ;)

Many thanks for this detailed answer my friend ! :)

About old games : I understand and quite frankly, I expected this answer. I won't be grumpy because of that, it was just an idea since I am a "nostalgic" player.
Another way could be to sell old games on the PDX Store, in their original/last patch state, with a disclaimer on the store page (e.g. : "Beware, this game will only run on Win98/XP. Some weird players asked us to sell them again."). This would not cost any additional developpement to PDX and would allow players to repurchase old games on a fair price, while avoiding the "scratch discs" issues.
I am seriously thinking to build an old PC, with old OS, just to reinstall my old games and other stuff that aren't supported anymore, not even on GOG... Maybe I am not the only one in this case.

About the last point : this is awesome to read ! I wrote to Staecy on CK2 streams to get her speaking more about stats like that, and indeed it seems that the metadata collect is huge ! Can't wait ^^

Hmmm. Flashpoint is not in evidence outside of the game itself in the PDX version - Did you check if you can see the DLC mechs in your Mechbay in the Skirmish screen?
So it seems that unlike the Steam or GoG versions FP does not show in the Expansion tab in the PDX client, nor in the main game menu. I don't know BT well enough to know what to look for in the Mech bay, can you clarify this for us please?

While we are on the topic I am seeing similar issue in Surviving Mars with the OST and in particular the Stellaris Dome Set DLC. We cannot get them to appear in the PDX client expansions/DLC tab and they don't seem to appear in the game. The big problem here is that a save made with the Stellaris Dome Set DLC active (in the Steam or GoG version) can then not be loaded under the PDX client version, due ti the missing DLC.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

@Deuterium Oxide Can you share any insight in to why this is (for the above question).

The reason that Flashpoint isn't showing up in the PDX Launcher under the DLC tab is due to the obscure fact that it doesn't actually require any additional download - The content is unlocked by the mere act of owning the content. Due to some quirks in the GUI of the launcher, this is a case where the DLC simply won't show up. Rest assured that you should be able to access the Flashpoint content though. If you can't, despite owning the DLC (and possibly having linked your Steam account) please contact our support!

@Deuterium Oxide Thanks for the update. But can you say how exactly users can determine that the expansion is operative? There are particular mechs available in the skirmish mechbay that will not be in there otherwise, something like that? Perhaps I should be asking this in the BT forum :)

Hi,

Quick question : I tried installing a couple of mods through the PDX Launcher in the "Mods" tab and they seem to download just fine, but none of them are displayed in the Stellaris Launcher (ie. in the "Available Mods" tabs). Of course when I launch the game, the mods are not activated. Are mods supported, or is it an upcoming feature? Thanks.

In my installation the mods I have installed in the client show in the launcher. Mind you none are compatible with 2.2.3 or 2.2.4 , but they show there.

What client and game version are you on?

I'm using Paradox Launcher v1.0.beta-35 and Stellaris v2.2.4.1.

Here is one of the mods installed :

This is what I see in the Stellaris Launcher :

Edit:
I forgot to add I'm getting the "An error occured" red popup thingy, too :

I am currently trying to install the launcher on Solus Budgie (3.9999), however the launcher executable itself is not created (.../paradoxlauncher/launcher folder is empty after install). So the process stops and when run in terminal I see the following (see attached)

Running the launcher
Checking "/home/user/paradoxlauncher/launcher/Paradox Launcher"
launcher exectuable doesn't exist

It's a fresh install, so I haven't touched the network security and my router cannot be the issue as under Ubuntu it worked fine.
[Edit] I actually simply retried just now and it continued succesfully. Maybe it was a temporary thing...

For anyone having problems installing mods on Windows through the Launcher (mods not showing up in the game's launcher, see my post above) : make sure you're using the default location for your "My Documents" folder. I had remapped mine to another drive and it broke the mod installation process. Reverting it to the default location (ie. %USERPROFILE%\Documents\) fixed the problem. It looks like the path is hardcoded, or at least not dynamic.

Stirling work locating the source of the problems! Bugfix for that should be in the next release.

Your current offer for Battletech in the paradox store is very confusing:

As you can see the above image implies that you pay only 9,09€ instead of 39,99€ and safe 50%.
That is false.
You can safe 50%, but only for the Deluxe Edition.
You pay 9,09€ instead of 12,99€ for the Art book.
And instead of 39,99€ you have to pay 23,99€, so 40% less...

You should really clear that up...

Well, I'm not sure what happened, but I'm currently installing Stellaris and it's stuck at "Applying patch 6/7"

It's been quite some time now, and the UI is responsive (e.g. I can click on news tab, expansions tab, and the contents change) but it's stuck at 6/7

EDIT: Yeah don't mind me. The installation process is super long relative to steam's, but it does finish eventually

Will Europa Universalis 4 ever arrive on the Paradox Launcher -for GNU/Linux? I'm just waiting for that to buy it.
I read that some games depend on items provided by Steam. Is this the case of EU4? :(

Why is Europa Universalis 4 still not available in the Paradox Launcher? :(
Because i think they need to change the code of the game for compatibility. New games were built in for compatibility on release.

It was mentioned at one point that already released game might one day be made compatible. But, for confirmation, i guess only time will tell.

I also hope EUIV and the other games will be freed from the Steam yoke.

For instance MP in EU4 (and CK2 and HOI4) is via Steam only. The MP part of Stellaris had to be rewritten to allow nomn-Steam players to MP with Steam players, and that's been a bit of a rocky road. But it then allowed there to be GoG, Origin and console versions too.

Whether it is deemed a good use of development time to do this for older games like EU4 and CK2 is not known as yet.

Thanks gigau and AndrewT for your answers.

It's still a shame that your games are not available on your own platform. While waiting for this revision of the game code that you are talking about, could you consider publishing, for the Paradox Launcher, a version of EU4 with the multiplayer mode removed? You would then indicate that to play multiplayer, one must install the Steam version provided in parallel with the Paradox Launcher version when purchased on the Paradox Store.

I think the considerations would be: is this a good used of development time? What else doesn't get to done allow that to be done (ie opportunity cost)? Where is the ROI for that expenditure?

I don't have any answers for those questions :)
