patch 1.05 corrupted?

i'm trying to reinstall eu2. there's no problem with reisnstalling the game, but now i'm trying to apply the 1.05 patch, and after downloading it from this site, trying to install it gives me this error message:

could not initialize installation. (CRC) the parameter is incorrect.

i guess it means the file is corrupted. i tried redownloading the file, but all five attempts failed. what can i do?

Are you sure that you're downloading the correct version for your game?

try downloading it from your publisher's web site if you cannot get it to work from Paradox's site.

if you use a software such as Getright or any other download utility, try to disable it.

well, that was the same version i downloaded many months ago, and it worked. i don't know what's the problem now.

and viper, what do you mean by my publisher's website? i thought Paradox publishes the game?
and i tried both regular download and Accellerated download. could the file itself (on paradox's server) be corrupted?

EDIT: if anyone could find the time to try and icq it(the NA patch) to me, my UIN is 83931272, maybe that could help. thanks in advance. i miss the game alot

Okay....spoke to you a bit via ICQ and I think we've got it sorted out (*crosses fingers*)

As a general note, never just delete files when uninstalling since you can leave some terrible messes in your registry. Always use either the game's uninstall or Windowns Add/Remove Programs function. Even then it isn't always 100% cleaned up.

Anyway, once you've done the procedure in the sticky up above, let me know how it works out.

No, Paradox wrote the game - same difference between an author and publisher of a book. It was published by different companies in different parts of the world - Strategy First, Vision Park, Ubisoft, etc. It will be clearly marked on the cover of the game.
