Patch 1.07 corrupted?

I have tried to DL the new patch (EU2_1.07_Nordic_Update_0300327) several times. When I try to run the self-extracting patch it stops and tell me that the executable is corrupted.

When I tried to extract it using WinZip I got the following log :

Does anyone else have this problem?

Maybe you should try re-downloading the file, only sensible thing I can think of at the moment.

I have DL the patch three times. I always get the same errors.

Can anyone else with the Nordic version confirm whether they've had the same problem as well?

(Or can anyone else who has the Nordic version confirm that they've successfully applied the 1.07 patch?)

Okay then...

Let's try a couple things:

It's possible that there's a strange entry in your registry or in the InstallShield folders. What I'd like you to do is completely uninstall your current EU2 installation and start from scratch. Follow the link in my sig to the Support forum FAQ and go to the section that gives detailed "special" uninstall instructions including removing latent registry entries and InstallShield folders. Follow those procedures, defrag your hard drive, and then do a fresh installation from CD. After that, download the patch 1 more time and try applying it.

EDIT: If you're using a 3rd party d/l utility, turn it off and d/l it again and try applying it first.

MR T. I did a clean install of EU2 before running the patch. This should not have any relevance i regard to the error, since I got the same problems when I tried to extract using WinZip.

I don't have any DL utilities. Since I have ADSL I don't need it.

I have however solved my problem by deactivating my firewall while downloading the patch! I had not expected a Norton firewall to cause such problems, and this is the first time I have experienced this!

I'm not sure exactly what additional conditions might be applied to the self-extraction utility so it's possible that winzip wouldn't extract the 1.07 patch correctly at any rate. It is intended to be an executable that performs the update automatically rather than being something to unpack and apply manually.

As such, corruptions in the registry or InstallShield can easily derail the process, and once it's derailed once it will be a problem in all future attempts - hence my suggestion.

I did manage to extract the new DL with WinZip, so the problem must have been the firewall.

Interesting... I'll make a mental note of that as a possible cause in the future - that's the first time I recall seeing a firewall corrupt a patch (I've seen it block them but not corrupt them).
