Yes I agree this would help gameplay considerably. Is Round 4 a reasonable time to implement this?

I haven't fiddled around with this yet, but I do know most of the basic workings. So I should be able to customize mine by then...
anyone who does not want to customize their own would only have to copy the files (scenario and ai files I believe) to their own systems, which is pretty easy.

Everyone else (Evenflow) ok with this?

(but i will still blame the ai for giving up piedmonte to Helvetia for seperate peace, and THEN lombardia AND marche to Genoa. ah well, my fault for taking the provinces i guess.)

Edit: If others wanted, we could also tweak our AIs each turn. It would be relatively easy (such as adding a country to the to fight list, etc). The others would just have to copy over the old file.

Another idea to improve the gameplay:
Because of the nature of PBEM there is a limit in the diplomatic possibilities regarding the interaction of two players. Whenever we are conductiong negotations we are facing the ai with all its limits.
Maybe we can enhance this by creating of a system of treaties between two players, which would be formally announced on the aar board.
The content of these treaties could include the exchange of provinces, money, perhaps even military personnel.
All what the treaty parties have to do is announcing the clauses of the agreement (both parties have to formally agree the proposals of course) on the board and ask a third party to act as an "honest broker" and finalize and supervise the transaction (read: edit the savegame).
Should be fairly easy to implement, and possibly add a new flavour to the negotiations.

Good Idea? or Bullshit? :)

hey, i like it! reason being exactly what you mentioned. we cannot negotiate peacedeals with the other party.

but one worry is the fine line between brokering and cheating. do we need a war to do this? without one, it is something the ai cannot do during peace time (exchange provinces...). of course, this line may not matter, it might simply be funner this way.

we will put this up for discussion.

I would say its possible without a war, its not a peace resolution but a deal to the advantage of both (a land swap to connect different parts of your realm for example, buying land or selling troops against land, or giving money for military assistance, the possibilities are endless). Its a deal based in friendly relation, not hostilities, and the third party has to ensure that there is no cheating involved (like adding to one party 300 dukats, but subtracting only 200 at the other side, or giving away assets that i dont even possess)
