this is not acceptable. the game and my whole system (a brand new dell dimension 5150) freezes after clicking on the valkyrenet button. what kind of joke is this? i mean the launcher doensnt work either. had to use a new .exe in the game folder after patching to 1.1 . and why is there no description about these errors in this "support forum" .

i have the try and buy version. yes i paid 20 dollares and i expect it to run.

1. This is for hardware and driver support for the game itself.
2. Issues regarding getting the zstorm(download stuff) to work would be handled by Zstorm or on this site by the Online store support http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=258 . Really I have nothing to do with that. However as a service to help, there is a thread here on the subject that explains a work around.
3. All MP related question/Problems should be posted in the MP forum as per the sticky threads..

I realize it is frustrating to get the not my department repy, but it really is the best thing to post in the correct forums to get the best and fasted help.

The game does not freeze, but what you are experiencing is most likely your software firewall kicking in, asking for your permission to allow the game server and client access to the internet.

Unfortunately, due to how some versions of Windows, DirectX and software firewalls tend to interact, it sometimes results in the software firewall becoming active, but without allowing Windows to actually paint the authorisation dialog box.

Try <ctrl><esc> or <alt><tab> combinations to switch to the desktop. If that does not work, move the mouse around until it changes to the regular arrow that is used on your Windows desktop. There where the standard mouse arrow appears, the autorisation dialog box is supposed to be placed. When you found it, you (alas, but that can't be helped) blindly have to find the <ok> button and click the mouse button to authorise the game.

If you have success with this, the game will proceed.

A second approach (but that depends on what software firewall you are using), is to authorise the main program file (hoi2.exe) with your firewall before you start the game allthogether. Give it both regular and server internet access.

No that is not what I said at all.
You just posted in the wrong forum.
If the problem has to do with the game part working it is handled here.
If it has to do with the download part it is handled in the other forum which I provided a link to you. I know about how to get the game itself working, others know better about how to help you with the download problems. So it is better for you to ask them.
How is it second rate support, actually, it could be argued that you would get better support since the person that oversees that forum is the second level support, ie the person I go to when I have a problem.
