I've done a lot of searching, can't find anything about this.

Pirates at the moment can't slave raid with a cb, and they can't get slaves from looting events. So how am I supposed to gain slaves? Just buying them?
And why can't pirates take slaves from looting? That feels very much like what the pirates should be doing.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, if so and someone could enlighten me that would be great!

The slave raid CB has always been hit or miss for me as an essos thing. Never tried pirate but the summer isles seem the most reliable place for it to work. You can enslave prisoners as well, in the diplomacy menu. So if you capture people in sieges can do that.

I'm currently playing a Corsair who conquered northern Leng and found out that the default slavery law was illegal when I formed the "empire" of Leng. Before that Qarth destroyed the Kingdom of the basilisk isles (the one that exists at the start of the 8300 start date) and when I re-formed it without the decision (i.e. I did it the usual way of owning more than 50% of the territory) the default slavery law was set to illegal. It's possible depending on the start date that the de-jure kingdom of your capital county has slavery set to illegal even though that kingdom may not currently exist. This could be the cause of why you're not getting any slaves.

Don't worry about it however since I found that there is little point in going for slave camps since they bring you only 400 gold which you can get very quickly if you raid cleverly once you've set yourself up as a pirate/corsair.

I've played from 8300 up to 8430 with the majority of the time ruling in a kingdom with chattel slavery on and only got the event twice, I also always sieged down a county when possible so it wasn't for lack of trying.I'd suggest getting a really strong capital, lots of concubines (to avoid heir problems) and a couple of powerful vassals and then just use their troops to raid and save yours for any Anti-piracy wars.
