I'm as computer illiterate as you can possibly get, so please bare with me. Up until a couple of days ago, everything was working fine. I was running EU2 with the 1.05 North American patch and the EEP version 1.1a. It worked fine before. But I had to change some things on my computer because of college requirements. I had to change from a phone line to a cable line (for the internet). I also had to change my CD Rom drive from what I had to a new DVD CD ReWritable thing that does a lot of things or so I'm told. (Did I mention that I'm not computer literate?) Anyway, after installing this new hard ware or soft ware or medium ware, I'm not sure what it's called, I began to have problems. Whenever I try to click on the EEP shortcut or the EU2 shortcut, my computer crashes and I have to restart it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything (the patch, the EEP, and the game itself) but that doesn't seem to help at all. That's all I knew to do, because, if it's not clear yet, I'm basically retarded.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. EU2 is the only game I ever play and it makes my heart sad that I can't play it. Sure, I could study or something like that, but I'd really rather not take such a drastic step. Someone please help.
Thanks in advance.
Karl

I believe you have a copy protection problem. In simple terms, the game doesn't like your new DVD ROM.

just to make sure, try the following to uninstall the game:
http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20775

then install only the game (no patch, no EEP). Try to play. if it works, proceed with the patch, see if it is working, if it is, apply the EEP and if it isn't working there, you'll need to ask in the scenario forum for more help.

now, if nothing works at all, you will need to e-mail Strategy First the publisher and request their help for a copy protection problem. They are going to send you a patch and give you the instructions on how to apply it.

You will find SF adress here:

Well, the game seems to be working now. I still have to install the patch and the EEP, but hopefully there won't be any problems. I think it was a copy-protection problem.

Many thanks for the help. :)

no problem :)
