Greetings,

I have been trying to make multiplayer work. I have read the guide that is available in the multiplayer section. I have forwarded my ports with a router specific guide I found from www.portforward.com. I also have now a static ip address as was adviced. I changed my ip address to statistic in the netword settings. I followed the guide in http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-vista.htm.

My router model is Netgear WGR614v7. I went to the internet interface of the router and in the port forward/trigger settings I forwarded ports 2300-2400, 28800-29000 and 47400-47700. I used TCP service type. I found those numbers from this forum. I also temporarily disabled the UPnP thing, but it didn't help.

I have allowed the game in a software firewall as well, by adding the game to the allowed programs.
As I have also a static ip address at the moment, I think I have then done everything that is adviced, so I don't know what to do. When I tried to connect a multiplayer game with the same game version as I have(Doomsday 1.3a) it said that I have a different version than the host. I have previously read that if I have such a message then it's a connection problem and then I should forward my ports. However there was only one hosted game so I couldn't try joining several games.

My current computer set up is the following. I have a Motorola cable modem which is connected to my wireless router(WGR614v7). The router is then connected to a total of 4 computers, 1 wirelessly and 3 with a cable. I'm trying to make multiplayer work with one of those cable connected computers. I have Windows Vista in that computer. Should I do something with the Motorola modem?

I would greatly appreciate any help as I would really love to play this game online. I have played in LAN and I have really enjoyed that.

I have previously posted this in the tech support but didn't get a single answer so I post it here now.

Best wishes,

Teemu

When I was settimg up my router, I realized that the set up post missed a step. I will try to remember what the step was, I will go back and reread it. If I remember what was left out, I will let you know. It is very minor, they probably overlooked assuming we would know, but it was vital to getting the system working.

Please tell what that missing step was, but I was using the guide in www.portforwarding.com and just looked the port numbers from here. However the guide I used wasn't specially for Hoi so of course there might have been something I should have done different for Hoi to work.

For me the problem was my firewall... it would not allow other players in...
so do check that

I have actually already solved my problem.

I just had to keep the game open, or I'm not sure if it is necessary to even host a game, and then the port appeared open when I tested it. So I think the problem was that after forwarding my ports I didn't try playing, but I tried testing if the ports were open.

I didn't even have to turn my firewall off.
