Problem with 1.09 patch installation

I have reinstalled original EU2 and then patched with 1.09 and It says the patch has installed, but when I click on the EU2 shortcut and the game menu come up, in the corner it says EU21.00? What is going on/ Did the patch not install? Any help would be much appriciated.

If installed correctly it will say 1.09 in the top corner. Something must have gone wrong.

You will have remnants of previous installations in other directories in the PC's registry. The patch install has seen one of those and extracted there instead.

You need to do a complete uninstall including cleaning up the registry (copy any valued save games elsewhere first). You may as well defrag your hard disk at that point (it helps EU2 run faster and smoother) then install EU2 and then 1.09 immediately.
