I just got EUII and am taking the tutorials. In the Economy Tutorial, I'm instructed to place a merchant in Anglia. I do so, and then nothing happens. The 'Place Merchant' window instructing me to place the merchant doesn't go away, no new window pops up, and there isn't an 'ok' button to click.

How do I continue the tutorial?

When you got to the trade screen was the button on the lower right that says "Place Merchant" an orange colour? (as opposed to greyed out)

If so, when you click on the place merchant button you should see a little merchant icon appear on the right hand side of the window to show you've sent one. Then you have to wait a full month for the merchant to actually "go there" and, if he succeeds, you'll see your country shield appear in the screen.

I'll confess that it's been ages since I played the tutorials so I don't recall exactly what it looks like. If the above doesn't help, let me know and I'll load it up myself and make sure it isn't broken.

OK, thanks. Unlike army building and such, there isn't any visible indication that the merchant takes a month to set up shop - unless I'm missing something. At any rate, waiting a month worked, and the tutorial continued.

I find it a bit amusing that the tutorial ended after the merchant set up shop - I only missed one information screen the first time through. :)

The tutorials will sort of get you started but I think you'll find that this forum is the best place to get answers to your questions. You should ask the majority of them in the general discussion (GD) forum, though, since this sub-forum is really strictly for technical support (game incompatibility with people's hardware, OS, drivers, etc.). Also check out the FAQ forum for a lit of good material as well as the "sticky" at the top of the GD forum that's called "Guide for Newbies" which answers a lot of common first-timer questions.

Have fun. :)
