I got some real confusing issue here, I am able to play the other games I play against others over the internet, but I cant play this one.

I dont got a firewall, so thats not it. And I really dont know what the issue can be, I have been able to play the game online before. But I guess it might be some sort of port I should open.

Any and all help on the subject is welcomed. :)

Based on this I'd say you don't have the same patch as the others, or have some modified game-files. Reinstall and apply latest patch :)

Since the checksum addition in one of the 1.08beta, me and a friend cant play multiplayer.

Every patch before the checksum addition works perfectly, we've been doing clean install every 2 days since the pactch is out, never worked aside 1 time.

We've been through all the folder, we got everyone with same amount of files and same size.

Im lost, any idea before i go in the registry manually deleting everything Paradox related? Its the only thing i can see, when i uninstall certain entry in registry dont get deleted and confused the checksum after.

:(

So you removed the install, deleted all the folders, defragged hard-disk, made a new clean install, applied latest patch? If either of you does a copy paste with something from the old install, then I believe what ever the problem is gets copied and pasted too.

Yup, even went as far as not changing resolution so we have exactly whats on the cd and the 1.09 patch.

- Improved checksum checking for multiplayer games. is screwing us and we have no idea why.

Having run server for FPS game, im well aware of the checksum features, having use it to caught cheater myself.

We've been playing EU2 mp since two years, never had that much problem.

Well all I have installed is the game and patch 1.09.
Then it has to be either
a) Your router and/or firewall
b) Your ISP

What sort of connection do you have? What sort (name and model) modem do you have and what firewall (hardware or software) do you use. You can PM me those if you don't want to tell it in public, altough it is very likely somebody here has the same stuff so you'd get a more accurate answer and faster :)

Well, if you are very very sure there is nothing different between your installations, then I really don't know how to solve the problem :(

Over to the guru's and mods/admins, I don't understand the problem :(

I personally think it is the router, as I dont think the needed ports are open.
Regarding the firewall do I know its not that as I dont have it turned on when I play EU2 over MP (well try to at least :D )

im not really sure what an ISP is .. lol sorry :D ..

I got cable (over 350 kb connection), we got webspeed.

-----------

Dunno if this helped anything. But I think the problem is the router. My problem here is just that I suddenly cant log into it and open these ports. :S

No not that, no one changed it, it actually happened very suddenly, I was on the router and then suddenly it say: "The site cant be showed" and continue to do so, I tried to turn all computers in the house on but that didnt seem to make a difference. I got absolutly no idea why I cant.

You can no longer access the router but you have access to internet?

Also, maybe disable firewall while you try to have access to your router.

Call your ISP for a new password to the router.

If you are running Windows XP, you have to turn of the firewall while playing multiplayer.

Yeah I cant acces it (etc. write the standardgateway into the adress and then write the login code, it wont show that site suddenly)

And can you have access to internet?

if not : problem is your card or your cable or a defect router.

if yes : well, your router is simply bad. which one is it?

I can go on the internet, and the routers name is: Trendnet TW100-S4W1CA
But ive heard that Dsl/cable modems sometimes act as router as well.

So here is my modems name: Motorola Surfboard SB4100 Cable Modem
The Motorola Surfboard is a "sort of" router, it needs a HUB or switch though. Unfortuantely I don't seem to be able to find a manual for either Trendnet or the Surfboard online.

However, do you have more than one computer at the network (I presume you do, as else there is not much point for having the router)? Many routers can have a "main-computer" assigned to it, and it is impossible to change the settings from any other computer but this main-computer. Could this be your problem, ie you are not trying the access from such a "main-computer"?
