I'm playing IGC 2.0 as France. Everyone hates me, but I can manage to survive. And then... Gods, I got a conquistador in random event!!! He's boarding ship and go to Manhattan. Hard explorations let as find nice small Iroquois state in early 1580s.

So, our king wants them to be a part of Great France. We declare war, w/o CB, and send ~5000 troops, cavalry and infantry, to conquer them. Whole Europe declare war on us, coz' our badboy is rather high. Our wars in Europe go relatively well, save strange Dutch who declares independence. We manage to take some provinces from Spain, Austria and annexed few minors but our true goal, Iroquois, are invincible. We try very hard to enter some of their provinces, but... conquistador appears in the same province he's started from. We run around those pagans, trying to enter every single border province. No, we can't. Unholy Indian magic protects them. Three years, white peace, but not the end of story.

France revolts. Fortunately, only ~10 provinces are under scum influence, and our glorious army manage to reconquer them in few months... all but one. Nice colony in North America learn unholy magic from Iroquois shamans. We try to enter province with combined forces of up to 8000 soldiers, with smaller groups of infantry or cavalry, make marine assaults. No luck, it's like having PTI, what was colonized by mistake.

Maybe, we chose wrong path when left our Mother Church in early 1520s?

P.S. Sorry for style and mistakes, I would appreciate any help if anyone experienced something like this before.

I can't say for sure, but from memory the Iroquois had some forts so 2700 infantry seems low. I, personally, ran them over with 20K infantry armies with no cavalry and artillery. The provinces were easy to take in this manner, but getting all 5 or 6 provinces at the same time and holding them for an annexation was problematic, as it should be.

Maybe I was unspecific, but I CAN'T enter provinces at all. I understand that army should be bigger than garrison, but even with small armies it's not a problem to physically ENTER province in Europe, just to loot it for example.

I had this exact same "problem". If you don't have enough troops then you can't disembark your troops from ships into a province. Come back with more troops you'll be fine.

You have to have enough in one bucnh. You cant have 5000 in province A, 3000 in prvince B and 3000 on a ship and enter if there is a 10k strong fort.

Remeber, it's the fortress level that matters not garrison size (ie colonial cities only have half the garrison for a given fortress level).

Also remember that EACH unit has to be large enough to enter the province (unless you already cover or sieg it with a large enough force).

You can't have 3 1000 men armies enter a lvl1 fortress province unless you first merg them into 1.
