Couple of first minute in game questions:

1. Do you have to land on the first cell uncovered i.e. you can't use a probe and then decide to land 2 cells along?
2. Should you be able to zoom out far enough to see the entire rocket "area of effect" i.e. the blue lines

1. I believe that if you have orbital probes (might be wrong on name), you can scan more sectors before you land, and I think you can choose to land in one of those other scanned sectors.

2. Not sure...

You can land on any square, but deposits and surface resources are not visible until scanned. You can use drones to scan for a better landing site. Also note that the map will show a tooltip when in zoomed out grid mode that mentions potential resources in the sector you are hovering over with your cursor. You can use this to pin point potentially better landing sites.

Hi Single question for me. In another thread I saw a response that rovers would use tunnels but only as a last resort option to access inaccessible terrain. They would not use tunnels if they were the faster option to cross large distances. Is here a way to change this behavior or somehow force a rover transport route to use a tunnel?

Earlier quote
The transport rover will can use tunnels when doing transport routes. However it will prefer the above ground path if that's possible. If the tunnel connects 2 parts of the map that are otherwise inaccessible rovers will know to use the tunnel.

You can dismantle them via the related build menu option in the Infrastructure buildings tab.

Apologies, but I still can't see how to delete a pipe or cable. I can delete the thing attached to it, but I don't want to do that. Any chance of a complete idiots guide? You can't click on a pipe or cable so don't see how you select a section for removal.

In Infrastructure tab hit 'Salvage and then click on the pipe or cable.

Another quick one. What does a Drone Hub do that the rocket doesn't seem to already do...is it simply a matter of "area of effect" i.e. build a drone hub on the edge of your rocket's AOE to extend control boundaries? I have seen drones get metal deposits from way outside the rockets AOE so I'm just not 100% clear what they do.

Drone Hubs have the same Service Area, maybe a tiny bit bigger as a rocket. You COULD use a rocket but they're 3 billion a piece and you may want to use it for something else than an oversized Drone Hub.

Note on the drones as people seem to miss it a lot: Drones only serve in one Service Area. They do not cross over another Drone Hubs Service Area other than what their own hub overlaps with other hubs.

Do colonists need a set amount of food each day, or does it vary depending on age, mood etc? Struggling to see stat which details the food needs of a dome...can see what is currently being consumed, but not what is actually required.

Just had a concrete extractor pack up with "No more deposits". Assume this is the game telling me it's time to scrap this particular concrete extractor i.e. there is no concrete left at this spot?

It means the deposit below the excavator has been fully used up. If there is still one nearby (i.e. when it is a large one), you can simply build a new one next.
