I have not the LaR dlc.

how works the coup system now with it?

You build a spy network with your agents.
Once you have 70% network strength you can do the "Orchestrate coup" mission.
It has other preconditions (ideology support, low stability)
If you fulfill the preconditions you assign 2 spies and some equipment and commence the operation.
If the operations succeds there is a civil war.

Is there any way in SP (no DLC) to see the effect of convoy losses on an enemy? I've sunk 1000s of convoys up to end of 1942 as Italy (Reg difficulty) and would love to know what effect it is having on UK etc.

It's an ahistorical game and I have Facist France and Communist US, although luckily US hasn't joined Comintern... yet.

Playing Soviets. 1941, war with Germany. My Infantry has 120 Org. Why?

Base 60. +45 from Mobile Warfare Left/Right. But what about the remaining 15?

I think this might be a bug connected to researching per console command. (I switched land doctrine for testing. Avoided having 2 doctrines though...)
Or is there any other explanation?

Awaiting a new thread: "2 Width Infantry - the New META"

From past experience, using 2 width Cavalry Garrisons to close an encirclement or scouting in Siberia, such a "division" will often be physically destroyed before it loses org and retreats.

I dont use this template. I just made a new template to show the 120 org. Could have put in 25 infantry as well, but saved 24*3 clicks as this template would also have 120 org.

I could also have asked: "Are there other sources of +Org for infantry than Land doctrines?"

I tend to believe that it's a bug, lacking other information.

I have never lost a naval invasion in the game. Mostly because the AI is crap.

I was wondering if you have your troops driven back into the sea do you lose everything? All of the manpower and equipment or is some recovered? Is it the same for the AI?
Good question. I win most invasions but occasionally have one that doesn't get ashore and in that case the units retreat or I can select to retreat. I assume if the troops get ashore but are then pushed back, they are likely wiped out since they have nowhere to go. Maybe since they have a beachhead some troops can retreat, don't know.

I always invade at a port and also on at least one adjacent space. Unless invading into a heavily defended area invasions usually succeed.

Just had an idea but i don't know whether it works:

Does it make a difference to the available factory slots in a state whether i have improved the existing number of available slots via a focus before i finish research on concentrated/dispersed industry?

If so, it would be preferrable to get the industry focuses first before researching the industrial techs, wouldn't it?

Or is the increase in slot percentage gained linear and based on the initial number at game start?

It is the latter option and it doesn't make a difference in which order you do those steps.

Thanks for your - as always - pretty helpful answer!

I believe the humiliated divisions sail for the nearest friendly port.

1. Why does China require to hold Beijing or Shanghai when assigning the naval company? It's the only country which requires to do so. I have checked Japan and Germany and they don't require holding a specific area.

2. When you assign Dagu Shipyard as a naval company and then the Japanese take Beijing and then you retake Beijing will the company be automatically reassigned?
Just don't tell me you have to spend another 150 pp to replace it manually.

Thank you

@porta80

I do realize it needs to be located somewhere but what about Japanese naval companies like Yokosuka Naval Arsenal and the others? Yokosuka is also a city and does not require to be controlled in order to get bonuses.

Do you see my point?

This is just stupid and unbalanced for China like every tank, naval, air, material designer as well as industrial concern.

I would appreciate if this will be concerned and tweaked in the future.

@Pluto2006 ,

  • If you play China without the Waking the Tiger DLC, then you can only get a generic naval design company that is not tied to any city (named province with victory points).
  • With Waking the Tiger DLC enabled, China is allowed to choose one of two naval design companies as long as China controls Beijing (Dagu Shipyard) and Shanghai (Jiangnan Shipyard Group). Having the naval design companies tied to control of Beijing or Shanghai allows other Chinese warlords, such as Shanxi, to conquer these cities and gain access to these naval design companies. Reference screenshots below.
  • If anyone thinks that other naval design companies should be "conquerable" similar to the Waking the Tiger DLC, then they might consider making a suggestion in the HOI4 Suggestions forum here https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forums/hearts-of-iron-4-suggestions.953/.

Thank you for your feedback but what's your point? You just retold the problem I am dealing with. In the case when conquering cities with naval designer companies, which warlord would declare war on China to gain the company? I have not seen warlords directly declaring war on China to replace it(her). The only way of struggle for leadership I've seen is through decision when gaining influence in provinces. No warlord can defeat China.

As far as suggestions thread is concerned I already tried doing a topic on different issues but no significant feedback has been given. There are tons of thread so why would anyone bother with mine? It is rare to receive any feedback at all.

If you got the idea "Great_Patriotic_War_X" then your army is buffed in ORG. There are 5 of these ideas which give you army_org_factor from 0.05 to 0.45 ( depends on the idea ) and some other buffs ( research land-doc etc)

So the first idea give you:

modifier = {
army_org_factor = 0.45
war_support_factor = 0.2
}

the last:
modifier = {
army_org_factor = 0.05
}

Where do i see if I got this. It's not under the national spirits.

Great Patriotic War you get if you dont have the purge complete at declaration of germany, right?

Yes you get it via an event if the purge is not complete and are in a defensive war against a major (not just Germany).
The 5 levels of Great Patriotic War are defined as ideas so should in theory appear under national spirits.
