I recently installed DD and the 1.3a patch. I then installed the Graphics Improvement Mod. Finally I ran Pegasus Hexa Wizard to patch the game to run in 1280x1024 mode. Everything works fine until I select a country and click accept to start a single player game. Then my computer crashes to desktop. I do not get a loading screen, though I can usually see a brown X in the top left hand corner of the screen for a second or two before the game crashes. I also tried using the Resolution Changer Utility instead of Hexa wizard with the same result.
I know that it is somehow the resolution that is causing the crash but I don't know how. The game runs fine if I do not patch it for the higher resolution. After reading this forum and many other places on the web and trying many different solutions I am out of ideas. I tried installing DD to the main c: instead of program files, rename the AVI folder to avi.old, nothing has had an effect.
I am running Vista Ultimate. My graphics card has current drivers (Ati X700), my sound card has current drivers. I have had trouble installing GART drivers for my Nforce 3 motherboard, but I don't know if that would effect anything here. Any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated, as I love this game and would love to get back to playing it asap. Thank you in advance.
