I have never figured out how that works: when my units retreat from province A to province B, the enemy captures A and proceeds to B and when my units arrive in province B, they fight the incoming hostiles but any unit that loses it's organization is instantly annihilated and doesn't retreat to any other adjacent province. If they are being defeated, they are being destroyed, but if I retreat them manually they can retreat to an adjacent province.
They are not cornered and have the possibility to retreat, so.. what is causing this? Is this normal? How can I avoid it?

I donnot believe this is a bug. Rather it is the common way to destroy enemies. For example germany overruns soviet troops. They control the province the soviet are retreating from and retreating to, so they are captured.

Oh sorry, i did not read carefully enough. I have witnesses something similar, but never came around to any detailed investigation. There is something strange about unorderly retreats in some cases.
