I´m a bit confused how some people thought this is a good idea.
Wasn´t everyone saying the game is in a pretty good state right now ?
Do we want to express our support and love for the game by doing negative reviews on steam so it´s down to mixed again ?
Surely this way new players are going to buy this and give paradox an incentive to redistribute more ressources to it.
Let´s make sure nobody will get this game so it will definetly die.
That´s just strengething the position of everyone saying this fanbase is toxic, I´m honestly just disappointed.

If anything we should do a positive review bombing.

I don't understand "review bombing" myself, I've never ever offered a negative review of a game unless I really meant it was a waste of time.

That being said, what other means do people have? It's not like corporate really gives a hoot for anything other than sales, in this company or any other company out there?

Again, I don't agree with it since it's fundamentally dishonest for me to give a game that I enjoy a negative review simply because I want to enjoy it more but, seriously: Do you really think that a massive, equally dishonest positive "review bomb" is going to change corporate's view that EU IV sells more DLC and therefore looks better on the next quarterly?

MBAs don't care. They have a hammer, so everything looks like a nail to them. (And yes, I DID go to business school).

Changing or leaving a negative review now isnt really 'review bombing' The future of this game has fundamentally changed. PDX games have never been about the NOW but about what they will become, I recommended Imperator previously not solely based on whats it like now, but the potential that's there, and the long term support PDX gives to games. Thats been capped now, so when I look at whats here, I couldn't recommended it anymore. It also gives me second thoughts on future releases, when they effective are released in early access and finished post 1.0.

Dnotes decsion here honestly reminds me of all the other steam greenlight and early access games that have then been abandoned.

I mean be honest with yourselves, would you really recommend a mate to buy the game now support has finished?

It's the dumbest thing ever. One of the things they will take into consideration to resume development is to see if over time the game has picked up good reviews of people giving it a go over the coming year.

Tank the reviews and your dooming the game.

Honestly, if they are going to judge whether to continue development or not by the amount of positives reviews, they are being very naive if they think those are going to be extremely positive after this decision because people are really upset right now, and they are right to be imo. The game is not going to have better reviews over time, and if it does it will be because of the modders, not because of the game itself as PDX has left it.

You bought a game that is not polished under the devs implied promise of fixing it along the way with continued support? Welcome to Corporate Catch 101!

Your options are:

Leave a negative review: this shows us that there is no interest in our game, so we can drop support.
Leave a positive review: this shows us that the game is fine in its current state, no need to polish.

Don't buy DLC: this shows us that there is no interest in our game, so we can drop support.
Buy DLC: this shows us that it is fine to release unpolished content for money, no need to polish.

I:R is in a relative good state for a PDS game, yet there is still a mirriad of bugs and inconsistencies that ought to be adressed before the game can be called polished.

I am actually quite dissappointed in the many of you, who have so internalized the mantra that every negative action from a company is direct responsibility from the consumer and therefore your own fault. Those who are unable to set any kind of standard to acompany they buy things from. Please think about how much you value yourselves.

Review bombing is acting like a child.

Its one of the major reason I stopped taking community reviews serious. Small vocal minorities send in reviews that sometimes don't go further than "Because the company sucks". I really don't see how that helps me decide if the game is good or not.

The answer is simple. I’m just not buying Paradox things anymore. Not until we get an apology for all the crap they have given out to fans. Not just for Imperator but for their other products like EU4, which was so broken that it’s almost a middle finger to fans.

A lot of people won’t do this and our fanbase will be ignored, but at least I know I have done my part.

The levels of toxicity are getting super high. There is no need to do this kind of things to make a point. This even weakens our position as fans of Imperator who want a comeback.
Also is very sad to see the great community we build through memes and constructive feedback getting erased.

(I am promising me that I will never be so emotionally attached to a game)

I left a negative review for I:R in 2019, and the only thing I've done since is update it with the news that the game has been canceled. I don't believe for one second that our Steam reviews influence Paradox's decision making. I:R's only sin, from the corporate perspective, is that it doesn't have a sufficient return on investment going forward.

Lol actively trying to make potential customers less likely to buy the game. That's certainly going to get Paradox to start up development of the game again.

It's not review bombing. active development has ended. You can no longer sell this game to people as a title that will progress and increase in quality like with EU4 and other titles.
Sold "AS IS" with no prospect of improvement, Imperator Rome is much worse today than it was last week.

The only reason why I left a positive review is because I genuinely like the game and think that it deserves continued development. At the same time I could only recommend buying the game when it's on sale because of the pausing of development which may or may not continue down the road.

I just updated my review to a negative one because I‘m overall dissatisfied with how the things are being handled at PDX. I feel betrayed, and I‘m convinced that this is the right thing to do in order to confront the management with their actions.

You are free to do so and the reasoning you come up with isn't surprising, but this thread is about whether that behaviour is beneficial in the end. I don't think so...

I:R is the best example for how a backlash from customers can lead to improvement, even if it was just temporary im case of I:R.

Review bombing does nothing for the good of imperator, which is abandoned forever.

Regular review bombing of paradox products however, is an attempt to make them realize that their development process and DLC policy is not well received.

Without promise of further development the game has 0 reason to be recommended to anyone. It's nowhere near finished, polished or deserving of 40 euros for basic or 120 for complete game with DLC's. Fundamental issues were never fixed and people are rating the game for what it is right now, not what Paradox promises might happen in 3 years if the moon aligns with seventh Chakra in Johans lover pinky toe
