Then you've got something *really* strange going on!

From the file you e-mailed to me...
Code:
[color=yellow]
header = {
    name = "The Grand Campaign"
    tutorial = no
    startyear = 1419
    endyear = 1819
    gametype = 0
    saved = yes
    free = yes
    optionmode = 0
    set_ai_aggresive = 1
    set_difficulty = 2
    set_gamespeed = 4
    set_fow = 1
    set_conq_capital = 1
    set_missions = 0
    set_basevp = 1 [/color][color=red][b]
    optionfile = "C:\Programme\EuropaUniversalis2\game\EEP\scenarios\save games\Byzantium_March_1440.eug.cfg"[/b][/color][color=yellow]
    selectable = {....[/color]
and also...
Code:
][color=yellow]
...
[/color][color=red][b]event = "db\events\major_man.txt" event = "db\events\major_bgl.txt" event = "db\events\major_tib.txt"[/b][/color][color=yellow]...etc...[/color]
You've got a call to the EEP option files and a bunch of non-standard EU2 event files in there. Your computer certainly thinks you're using the EEP...

I'd recommend removing EU2 completely from your system (see the link in my sig to the support forum FAQ which has detailed instructions on the full uninstall process you should use since you'll need probably need to clear out a few extra things so a basic uninstall will probably not work) and then reinstall and re-patch.

MrT, I think your confusing my savegame with Apollo's. The one I sent you was with Granada, while your quotation says something about Byzantium.
Ack! :eek:

I'm so sorry! :eek: You're right...for some reason I didn't notice that Apollon had added a problem of his own into this thread so I was just operating under the assumption that both of the files were from you and you were sending me another example of the problem....(incidentally, Apollon, this is a good example of why each problem should be reported in its own seperate thread).

Okay....let's see...

Apollon: please contact/advise the EEP about your problem (start a new thread there) since in looking at your save game I'm fairly sure it's an EEP problem.

Basileios II: My apologies....stupid, stupid mistake for me to make. :eek:

Since no one seemed game to try it in the German forum I'll take another stab at trying to figure it out tomorrow. In the interim, can I please ask you to do the following for me...although it will be a bit of a nuisance and is somewhat time-consuming.

1. Do a complete uninstall-->reinstall-->patch with your game. (I'm wondering if maybe you've got a corrupt file somewhere in your system that no one else with the UBI German release has run across).

2. Now start a new game (ideally it would be a country you've already had this problem with...)

3. As you play, make sure autosave is set to every year, and also save the game manually every 5 years or so (to a new file).

4. Play forward to the point that you experience the ~1600 CTD.

5. As soon as the CTD happens, try loading the autosave. If it will load, save it immediately to its own file name and then change the settings to autosave every month and play forward until you CTD again.

6. If the autosave won't load, try loading the oldautosave.eug instead. If it loads, please e-mail me a copy of both the oldautosave and the autosave that won't load.

7. If the oldautosave won't load, keep going back through your manual saves until you find the first one that *will* load. As soon as you find it, e-mail that file to me as well as the very next manual save (the first one that won't load).

What I'm trying to find is the point that the file becomes corrupt - something that will *really* help since I can look at the events that happen during that time period to see if one of those has a problem, and I can also forward both files to Johan to have a look at (he has a debugger that might be able to pinpoint a hidden problem but his time is extremely limited so I can only ask him to do this if I can supply him with both).

I know this will be a nuisance, but it's the only way I'm likely to be able to nail down the problem (or be able to get Johan to).

Once more, sorry about the error and for the tour that this thread is taking around the forums. :)

And now the strange part: the AGC runs without ANY problems. I playes 400 years as Byzantium with 1 (read: ONE) CTD and noch freezing savegame. Strange, isn't it?

My guess is that there's something plain wrong with the German text.csv, but sadly enough there's no help to expect from our "kind" publisher Ubi Soft.:rolleyes:

Wow. It certainly looks like that's the case.

If you like, I can e-mail the english version of the basic 1.06 text/csv file to you...but it might be worth contacting UBI to let them know that they've got a problem that needs fixing. I wonder why no one else in the German forum is reporting it though? (or at least I haven't seen a report on it).
