I've installed XP and converted the file system to NTFS.

The strange issue which I found (both on my DeskTop and LapTop) - the save games in the EU's 'load' window are not any more listed by 'date' (having the newest saves at the bottom of the list), but by alphabet. Which makes it difficult to find...

Is there any fix to that, apart from typing '001', '002' etc. before the save game names?

Many thanks! :)

I don't think you can do it in EU2's load window (or if you can, I don't know how it's done). You can definitely change it in folder view, though, by clicking on the column headings (click a second time to reverse order).

Looks like it. I have yet to figure out a way of adjusting the sort order of save game files but I'll log it in Bugzilla as a suggested enhancement. I have some doubts that it would make it into a future EU2 patch but might be incorporated into future games.

Sorry. :(

No problem. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

IIRC they were always sorted by alpha. I did suggest once to change the filename to YYYY-MM-DD_countryname so they would sort properly.

On my Win98SE installation, they aren't sorted at all.

The save games are listed in MS-DOS directory entry sequence. Which means that each new save game always appears at the bottom, until you delete some of them. The empty directory entries are recycled by the OS, and thus the save name files appear in that sequence too.

The actual sort order in the Windows Explorer doesn't affect this behaviour.

Never occured to me that the files were supposed to be sorted. I always have assumed that EU2 represented the files in the FindFirst, FindNext API call directory entry sequence.

Come to think of it, you're most likely right. I must confess that I'd never thought about sort order all that carfully but the computer I play EU2 on most often is a little tight on HD space so I'm in the habit of deleting all but the most recent save game when I stop playing. Anyway...I'll point it out as a possible enhancement for the future.
