Screen flickers

Hi all

Used the chance to buy this game with 8 EUR from GG and started first game with Apulia (as suggested for starters)

game seems awsome - but there is a problem:
Gamescreen flickers - or sort of 'reloads' - there is a blinking of screen in a fraction of secons after every half of minute or so. And it gets pretty annoying.

I am running Vista Home Premium - has there been such issues before?

Close the Windows Sidebar before playing.
The older Paradox games don't deal well with apps that try to stay on top.

If you do not use the Sidebar but do have something else running which tries to stay on top, that can also be the cause.
